<p>Position Information:</p> <p>OVERVIEW: Bismarck State College is dedicated to student success. This on campus position is student-centered to provide high quality campus services and hands-on learning experiences.</p> <p>MISSION: As North Dakota's Polytechnic Institution, Bismarck State College focuses on student success through the delivery of affordable, flexible, high-quality, experiential learning enhanced by public-private partnerships.</p> <p>VISION: Bismarck State College will be a leader in polytechnic education improving lives and building sustainable communities.</p> <p>STARTING DATE: TBD</p> <p>REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:</p> <p>Is directly accountable and responsible to the appropriate Assistant Dean or Dean of Current and Emerging Technologies</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for instructing Automotive Technician lectures and laboratory courses. </li><li>Responsible for grading student performance during lecture and laboratory activities following the program grading system. </li></ul> <p>Position Description & Details:</p> <ul> <li>Provides training for students to industry standards. </li><li>Maintains accountability of materials and supplies. </li><li>Supervise students and ensure they wear proper safety apparel and follow safety procedures. </li><li>Ensures materials and supplies are available as needed. </li><li>Set up and clean the lab/shop for specific training activities. </li><li>Scores and provides grades for all laboratory activities and promptly enters them into the learning management system. </li><li>Supports student retention and success by working collaboratively with the HEO Program director through assessment and discipline review. </li><li>Reports student issues to the assistant dean and/or dean by following proper procedures (i.e., student conduct concerns, etc.). </li><li>Supports innovation, creativity, and ideas to improve/enhance processes, functions, etc., in the department and for the college. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned or required. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Certificate in Automotive or Diesel Technology with Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) with 5 years of non-teaching work-related experience. </li><li>Good computer software skills - Microsoft Office Suite-Word, Excel, etc., email and electronic calendar, and strong Internet familiarity. </li><li>Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. </li><li>Ability to work cooperatively with students of diverse backgrounds. </li><li>Ability to articulate and support the community college philosophy with a strong commitment to teaching and learning in a community college setting. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Associate degree or higher in Automotive or Diesel Technology and 3 years non-teaching work experience. </li><li>Higher education teaching experience. </li><li>Documented successful teaching experience in the Automotive or Diesel Technology field. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS:</p> <p>The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.</p> <ul> <li>Continuously - 66-100% - Stand, walk, use hands dexterously, talk, or hear. </li><li>Frequently - 34-65% - Reach with hands and arms, lift up to 20 pounds.
