<p>Position Purpose</p> <p>Provides engineering and technical support for power generation facilities, with responsibility for managing capital and maintenance projects, conducting equipment testing and analysis, and supporting safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.</p> <p>This role leads troubleshooting for operational issues, supports installation and commissioning activities, and contributes to the continuous improvement of plant performance.</p> <p>Core Responsibilities</p> <p>Note: This is not an all-inclusive list.</p> <ul> <li>Manage capital and operations and maintenance (O&M) projects, including coordination of scope, schedule, and budget </li><li>Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors and contractors to support project development and execution </li><li>Design and conduct tests on power plant equipment; analyze results and provide recommendations for performance improvement </li><li>Develop detailed test plans and procedures that ensure safety, operational continuity, and coordination across impacted teams </li><li>Troubleshoot plant equipment issues and recommend corrective actions to resolve operational and maintenance problems </li><li>Support installation, startup, and commissioning of new equipment; provide technical oversight and issue resolution </li><li>Analyze operating data and logs to identify trends, diagnose issues, and improve system performance </li><li>Contribute to the development of capital and O&M budgets by identifying needs and recommending projects </li><li>Assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures and training programs </li><li>Maintain and improve documentation control and change management standards for power plant systems </li><li>Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours technical support </li></ul> <p>Behavioral Competencies</p> <ul> <li>Ensures Accountability - Holds self accountable for delivering high-quality, accurate work and meeting commitments </li><li>Collaborates - Builds partnerships and works effectively with others to achieve shared objectives </li><li>Communicates Effectively - Delivers clear, concise information tailored to audience needs </li><li>Manages Complexity - Applies structured thinking to solve moderately complex technical and operational problems </li><li>Plans and Aligns - Organizes work, prioritizes tasks, and aligns efforts with departmental and organizational goals </li></ul> <p>Skills and Technical Knowledge</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of power plant systems (boilers, turbines, generators, pumps, valves, steam systems) - Intermediate </li><li>Understanding of plant performance metrics (efficiency, heat rates, fuel characteristics) - Intermediate </li><li>Familiarity with control and instrumentation systems - Intermediate </li><li>Foundational to intermediate knowledge of electrical systems (relays, transformers, breakers, auxiliary systems) </li><li>Project management fundamentals (scope, schedule, budget coordination) - Intermediate </li><li>Data analysis and technical reporting - Intermediate </li><li>Troubleshooting and root cause analysis - Intermediate </li><li>Strong organizational and time management skills </li><li>Safety and compliance awareness (industrial and environmental) - Intermediate </li></ul> <p>Education</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline from an accredited university </li><li>Valid driver's license required </li></ul> <p>Experience</p> <ul> <li>Prefer seven or more years of experience in power generation or a related industrial environment </li><li>Ongoing learning through classes and seminars related to power plant and utility technologies </li><li>Maintains working knowledge of applicable construction and safety codes (ASME, ASTM), governmental regulations (NERC reliability standards), and company rules and procedures </li></ul> <p>Work Location</p> <p>In-person role based at power plant locations in Madison, WI</p> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>Pre-employment will require satisfactory completion of a background check and drug screen.</p> <p>We are an AA/EOE employer and consider all qualified candidates without regard to protected status.</p>
