We believe that high-performing teams drive groundbreaking medical discoveries and invite all applicants to join us and experience what it means to be part of Mass General Brigham.</p> <p>Staff Nurse / 40 Hours Variable/ Days / Ambulatory Specialty Float Pool / Multiple Locations - BWH</p> <ul> <li>In this Float Staff Nurse position, you will care for patients at various Medical, Surgical, and Specialty clinics of the Ambulatory Division. Our aim is to provide flexible and dynamic RN staffing support that is responsive to the daily RN staffing needs. </li><li>Practice locations range from Main campus in Boston, and in nearby towns which may include Chestnut Hill and Jamaica Plain. Float nurses are expected to be able to travel to all areas that are supported by the department. </li></ul> <p>Must be comfortable with all aspects of patient care including telephonic or in-person care.</p> <ul> <li>The teams at each practice may vary but the goal is still the same: to provide high quality care for patients whether you are conducting a nurse-only visit in clinic or providing care telephonically. </li></ul> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Staff Nurse will be responsible for:</p> <ul> <li>Providing nursing support and care to patients within the Ambulatory Medical Surgical Specialties & Float Pool. </li><li>Ensuring that ambulatory patients are seen in a timely manner by the appropriate clinician(s) and that appropriate coordination of care and communication is maintained with the patients and referring providers. </li><li>Providing clinical telephone triage, especially for urgent clinical situations, and general nursing support for patients across the Division of Ambulatory Medical Surgical & Specialties. </li><li>Maintaining familiarity with department activity and a close working relationship with clinicians and support staff to provide the most appropriate triage and facilitate timely and effective communication and scheduling. </li><li>Participating in departmental and organizational quality management and/or quality improvement projects as directed by the leadership team. </li><li>Proficient use of the electronic medical record, documenting in a manner that is clear, complete, concise, and in SBAR format when appropriate to remain compliant with nursing standards. </li><li>Working in a normal office setting, work entails extended periods of sitting and fast-paced, phone-based care. </li><li>Preparing, performing, and documenting the coordination of clinical care including, but not limited to, assisting patients with medication questions, delivering lab results, and providing patient education as needed and requested. </li><li>Working collaboratively to provide excellent care to patients and families in the safest environment. </li><li>Other duties as assigned by the supervising physician or leadership team. </li></ul> <p>Excellent Care to Patients and Families • The Best Staff • In the Safest Environment</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>To qualify you must have:</p> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>Graduate of an approved school of nursing with current registration in Massachusetts. Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is required for newly licensed nurses </li></ul> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li> <ol> <li>Minimum of 2 years of recent (within 12 months) clinical nursing experience in an Ambulatory Clinic/Practice setting required. Experience only in an ambulatory procedural area /emergency room is not sufficient. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="2"> <li>Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience with telephone triage required, and telephone triage must be the main responsibility of this experience. This is the safe, effective, and appropriate disposition of health-related problems and includes: assessing the severity of symptoms, communicating urgent patient needs to the LIP, referral to appropriate setting or level of care, documenting interventions and an individualized plan of care using an EMR, education of patients and families on their disease process and interventions to promote health and well-being, preliminary interpretation of data, providing home health advice and follow-up, ability to make triage decisions quickly and calmly in emergency situations, and assuring continuity of care. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="3"> <li>Experience with in-person triage and clinical assessment techniques of an adult patient within the last 4 years is required. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="4"> <li>Experience in an Ambulatory Medical Specialty (not procedural) area or Primary Care with patient care delivery as an RN is strongly preferred. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="5"> <li>Must be comfortable with all aspects of patient care in person and via telephone. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="6"> <li>Case Management experience preferred. </li></ol> </li></ul> <p>Other:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Certification or desire to obtain certification in Ambulatory Care or an ambulatory Specialty area within 2 years is preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Able to work weekend rotation per the MNA contract</p> </li></ul> <p>Additional Job Details (if applicable)</p> <p>Additional Job Description</p> <p>Remote Type</p> <p>Onsite</p> <p>Work Location</p> <p>75 Francis Street</p> <p>Scheduled Weekly Hours</p> <p>40</p> <p>Employee Type</p> <p>Regular</p> <p>Work Shift</p> <p>Day (United States of America)</p> <p>EEO Statement:</p> <p>The Brigham and Women's Hospital, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
