<p>The Dane County Human Services Department has a full-time (1.0 FTE) vacancy for an Information and Assistance Supervisor in Madison, WI.</p> <p>The Eligibility List created will be used to fill future vacancies over the next six (6) months. Applicants from traditionally underrepresented populations including women, racial and ethnic minorities, and persons with disabilities are especially encouraged to apply.</p> <p>DEFINITION</p> <p>Under the general supervision of the ADRC Manager this position supervises the Information and Assistance (I&A) Specialists and Lead Information and Assistance Specialists located in the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC). Provides leadership and direction to the Information and Assistance (I&A) staff. Builds and supports development of teamwork within the Information and Assistant unit. Performs a variety of management, community outreach, partner relationship functions necessary to ADRC operations.</p> <p>EXAMPLES OF DUTIES</p> <p>Supervises and evaluates the job performance of the Information and Assistance staff. Provides clinical support and consultation regarding programmatic and consumer issues. Provides general oversight for administering the Long Term Functional Screen. Coordinates the Functional Screen with the financial eligibility done by the Economic Support Unit. Assists with the process for handling the waiting list for services and future enrollment in the Waiver programs. Coordinates I&A staff participation with prevention activities and various transition activities to help youth who have a disability transition from the school to the adult service system. Ensures the AIRS National certification is obtained and kept current by the I&A staff. Assists I&A staff in effectively using the resource database. Instructs and trains staff in proper methods and procedures. Reviews work in progress and reports issues of concern to ADRC management. Advocates for issues that impact older adults and adults with disabilities and represents their concerns within the community. Informs consumers of programs and issues that affect them. Ensures I&A staff coverage is adequate to meet consumer demand.; Ensures schedules and deadlines are met. Coordinates training opportunities for I&A unit. Recommends and assists with the development of resource database policies and procedures. Trains and monitors 100% time reporting activities to ensure contract compliance and maximize revenues. Maintains relationships with community agencies and other partners. Participates on special task forces and community committees. Coordinates the public outreach activities including information booths and public speaking engagements on the aging and disability services. Participates in the planning and goal setting efforts of the ADRC. Serves as the first contact in response to consumer related complaints and employee grievances. Assists in the ADRC Emergency Preparedness Plan. Assists the I&A staff with the Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement projects and activities. Performs other duties as assigned.</p> <p>Education, Training and Experience:</p> <p>Must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a human services or registered nursing related field. At least two (2) years' experience working in an aging or disability service network including experience with service delivery methods. At least one (1) year of lead/supervisory experience is preferred but not required.</p> <p>Certifications/Licenses:</p> <p>Must be certified to administer the Wisconsin Long Term Care Functional Screen within 90 days of hire and maintain certification. Must be certified in Options Counseling within 90 days of hire and maintain that certification. Must become Inform USA certified within six (6) months of hire. </p> <p>Special Requirements:</p> <p>Must have a valid driver's license, or access to reliable personal transportation, or equivalent. Availability to work as required occasionally during nights, weekends, and during special events. Must be able to get to work and to work-related appointments and meetings on time. Also refer to the "Physical and Environmental Work Requirements" section below.</p> <p>Background Check Statement: Some positions may require a criminal background check which can include fingerprinting due to the nature of the job's responsibilities. Wisconsin's Fair Employment Law, s. 111.31 - 111.395, Wis. Stats., prohibits discrimination because of an arrest or conviction record. However, Dane County may disqualify an applicant if the position's responsibilities are substantially related to the applicant's criminal history (e.g., the nature of the crime and its relationship to the position, whether hiring, transferring or promoting an applicant would pose an unreasonable risk to the business, its employees, customers and vendors, etc.) Management reserves the right to make employment contingent upon successful completion of the background check.</p> <p>For Bilingual Positions:</p> <ul> <li>Provide services in both English and the required foreign language (e.g., Spanish, Arabic, Hmong, etc.). </li><li>Applicants being considered for bilingual positions will be tested during the recruitment process prior to employment. This will primarily consist of passing an oral language proficiency assessment from English to foreign language and foreign language to English, but may require additional language testing, such as written translation, if it is an essential function of the job. </li><li>If applicable, individuals may confirm with the Employee Relations Division whether results of bilingual language certifications/ examinations they currently hold qualify them for the position's bilingual designation. </li></ul> <p>Physical and Environmental Work Requirements:</p> <p>Professional office work environment. Work involves walking, sitting, standing, bending, stooping, twisting, turning, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, grasping, and reaching within normal ranges. Ability to lift and move a variety of work-related materials weighing up to 25 pounds (with/without assistance). Prolonged computer and phone use. Manual dexterity using fine and gross motor skills. Ability to speak and be heard by others. Ability to see and hear within normal ranges with or without corrective devices. </p> <p>Knowledge of and demonstrated compliance with professional ethics and boundaries standards and codes of conduct. Knowledge of public service agencies, laws and regulations governing or affecting older adults and persons with disabilities and community services. Knowledge of community resources and referral procedures, assessment and care management techniques. Knowledge of planning, organizing and problem-solving strategies with staff of a non-profit and/or government agencies. Knowledge of or ability to learn staff supervisory techniques. General understanding of personnel management and policies. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Knowledge of electronic data processing applications. Knowledge of advanced word processing programming options, principles and procedures. Ability to evaluate and revise procedures to ensure effectiveness. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to evaluate, design, organize and program office-related functions, documentation, processes and procedures in the most efficient and effective manner. Ability to gather, organize, and classify information from a variety of sources. Ability to manage a complex workload with shifting priorities. Ability to train, direct, and monitor the work of others. Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Ability to interact effectively and courteously with other employees, officials and the public.</p>
