<p>Posting Number 0801819 Classification Title Assistant Director of Instructional Technology Working Title Department Academic Affairs Department Contact Email rthomas@centralstate.edu Job Summary/Basic Function</p> <p>The new grant-funded Assistant Director position is a supportive leadership role that fosters innovation and advancement in learning instruction, and assessment with a strong focus on advancing the university's ongoing commitment to student success. In collaboration with the Director for the Center for Teaching and Learning, the Assistant Director role supports pedagogical excellence by designing, and delivering faculty development programs, providing instructional and technical consultations, and promoting data-driven use of innovative educational technologies. Additionally, the role provides critical technical systems and records management support within the Center for Teaching & Learning.</p> <p>Job Responsibilities:</p> <p>Faculty Development Programming</p> <ul> <li>Develops instructional goals and plans for faculty development and create training materials through online resources as well as self-paced online modules that enables learners to master key skills and concepts. </li><li>Manages and facilitates online faculty development courses in the LMS </li><li>Designs, delivers, schedules and promotes professional development resources, learning communities, convenings and other programming focused on evidence-based teaching practices. </li><li>Ensures all faculty development programming meets Title II accessibility standards </li></ul> <p>Instructional Design & Course Quality</p> <ul> <li>Applies and modifies instructional design models and instructional systems, serves as a consultant on special learning, instructional, and/or assessment programs. </li><li>Models best practices of instructional design in all faculty development projects </li><li>Provides support to faculty on course design, instructional strategies, assessment, and the integration of educational technologies to support excellence in teaching and learning. </li><li>Ensures all course materials meet Title II accessibility standards; provides faculty with tools, and training to ensure ADA compliance. </li><li>Provides faculty with instructional design guidance and support to meet Quality Matter standards. This standard includes the provision of effective consultation and training, as well as the recommendation of sound learning solutions. </li><li>Collaborates with department chairs, individual faculty, and other stakeholders to preliminarily evaluate courses in preparation for submission to Quality Matters for evaluation. </li></ul> <p>Technical & Record Systems Management</p> <ul> <li>Serves as Super Administrator in the LMS as an Approved Support Contact with the LMS vendor; processes faculty LMS requests and supports the installation of all system updates and upgrades, as well as tools and software integrated with the LMS. </li><li>Provides user-level technical support in LMS and troubleshoots LMS support tickets </li><li>Identifies and communicates opportunities for process and quality improvements, providing feedback on usage, defects, and suggested enhancements for all educational technology tools; attends vendor meetings and provides input on vendor selection. </li><li>Provides one-on-one technical and pedagogical consultations to faculty and technical LMS support to students as needed </li><li>Maintains departmental records, including but not limited to training attendance records, survey data, job aids, training recordings, promotional materials, and any variety of database records necessary for day-to-day operations </li><li>Contributes to the center's ongoing operations; candidates must have the ability to organize and effectively communicate complex information; problem solve and apply creative solutions. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Leadership</p> <ul> <li>Assists the CTL Director in shaping the strategic direction of the CTL, aligning initiatives with institutional goals and emerging trends in education. </li><li>Manages projects related to innovative teaching practices, ensuring timely execution and adherence to budget </li><li>Serves as a subject matter expert in learning design and professional development, advising on best practices and emerging trends. </li><li>Represents the CTL at conferences, workshops, and collaborative meetings, promoting its vision and programs. </li><li>Stays current with the latest industry tools and trends in instructional design and educational technologies. </li></ul> <p>This role requires management of the CTL's existing efforts at the intersection of teaching and technology, including guiding the use of technology in course design, content-delivery, student engagement, and the assessment/evaluation of student learning.</p> <p>Other essential qualities include:</p> <ul> <li>Experience teaching and/or developing online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses in higher education, with applied knowledge of instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, backward design, Universal Design for Learning) and Peer or Master Reviewer certification in Quality Matters (QM) or similar </li><li>Strong understanding of adult learning theory and common instructional practices and theories </li><li>Familiarity with current trends and best practices in higher education, including online and blended learning pedagogies, instructional design and educational technologies </li><li>Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies, particularly through self-teaching. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to use data-driven approaches to assess program effectiveness and drive continuous improvement. </li><li>Demonstrated experience building and sustaining strong partnerships with faculty, staff, and administrators, to lead campus-wide initiatives that promote the sharing and adoption of evidence-based teaching and learning practices. </li><li>Strong team orientation, flexibility, interpersonal communication skills, public speaking experience, program development, and strong time management. </li></ul> <p>Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of appropriate experience, or Master's degree and three (3) years of experience.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Master's degree in instructional design, education, curriculum & instruction, professional development or a related field and/or five (5) years of related experience teaching at the college or university level, either as a full-time faculty member or an adjunct instructor, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.</p> <p>Posting Date 04/20/2026 Closing Date 05/12/2026 Open Until Filled No Special Instructions to Applicants</p> <p>All offer of employment at Central State University are contingent upon the successful completion of a comprehensive background check.
