<p>The City of Norfolk's Department of Utilities is seeking qualified candidates for a Maintenance Worker II in our Water Distribution Division. The Maintenance Worker II is needed to perform general labor duties to include the maintenance of equipment, fueling equipment, unloading materials, and digging.</p> <p>Essential functions include, but are not limited to:</p> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Digs and refills trenches and other excavations </li></ul> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Cuts asphalt and concrete </li></ul> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Maintains lawns </li></ul> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Loads, unloads, lifts and carries tools, equipment, and chemicals </li></ul> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Makes minor repairs to underground water service lines </li></ul> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Requires knowledge of construction equipment, materials, and work tasks </li></ul> <p> </p> <p>Work requires the ability to read and understand written instructions, to understand simple processes and the routine operation of machines. Level of knowledge equivalent to high school or equivalency.</p> <p>One year experience as a Maintenance Worker.</p> <p>Valid Driver's License</p> <p>Work Location: 1316 Ballentine Blvd., Norfolk, Virginia 23504</p> <p>Work Hours: Monday - Friday from 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., also standby duty rotation every several weeks.</p> <p>This is an 'Essential' position which means you may be required to work nights, weekends, rotating shifts, holidays, etc. in response to severe weather events and emergencies.</p>
