Applicants should demonstrate expert content knowledge and success in coaching their respective sport at the high school level. An ideal candidate will understand the benefits of an educational interscholastic athletic experience with a specific focus on player growth development. NYS certification in physical education or coaching license is required. Scarsdale School District is an equal opportunity employer, and candidates from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Has the ability to lead in the organization and supervision of a volleyball program. </li><li>Has previous successful coaching experience in volleyball. </li><li>The coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and, at the same time, must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field. </li><li>The coach must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through his/her instructions and actions. </li></ul> <p>REPORTS TO:</p> <p>The Athletic Director and Varsity Head Volleyball Coach.</p> <p>JOB GOAL:</p> <p>To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in the student athletes. To upgrade his/her knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc.</p> <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Has a thorough knowledge of all the athletic policies approved by the Scarsdale Public Schools' Board of Education and is responsible for their implementation by the entire staff of the sports program. </li><li>Has knowledge of existing system, state, and league regulations and implements them consistently. </li><li>Is responsible for the necessary preparation to hold scheduled events or practices and adheres to scheduled facility times. </li><li>Serves as a mentor to each athlete to promote the development and demonstration in student athletes the character traits of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. </li><li>Monitors a student athlete's grades and conduct. </li><li>Follow procedures concerning injuries, medical attention and emergencies. </li><li>Aids in the management and use of equipment and instills in each player a respect for equipment and school property. </li></ul>
