As a Cloud Engineer SME, you will be a part of a team leading the design, implementation, and automation of a secure cloud infrastructure. Focusing on Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and cybersecurity best practices, you will guide customers in securing complex, multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, OCI, or GCP) while bridging technical execution with executive-level strategic decisions.</p> <p>HOW CLOUD ENGINEER SME WILL MAKE AN IMPACT</p> <ul> <li>Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for program-related cloud security solutions and projects (and other areas as assigned). </li><li>Work with IaC Development & Security, creating, maintaining, and securing Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.) to build secure-by-default cloud environments. </li><li>Serve as a technical advisor for cloud security, providing guidance in architecture, compliance, and risk mitigation. </li><li>Work to integrate robust cybersecurity operations, automated guardrails, and compliance checks (NIST 800-53, Zero Trust) into CI/CD pipelines. </li><li>Work in a Multi-Cloud Environment, overseeing security postures across hybrid and multi-cloud platforms. </li><li>Synthesize complex technical data into concise briefings, reports, and strategic recommendations for executive decision-making. </li></ul> <p>WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:</p> <ul> <li>Education: Bachelor's Degree or higher in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience </li><li>Experience: Minimum 15 years of relevant experience </li><li>Required technical skills: </li><li>Deep practical experience in Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and/or Google Cloud). </li><li>Strong experience in creating, deploying, and maintaining Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates). </li><li>Practical experience integrating security into cloud infrastructure (IAM, networking, logging, monitoring). </li><li>Proven ability to communicate technical, security, and project risks to senior leadership. </li><li>Security clearance level: TS/SCI with Polygraph </li><li>Desired Skills: </li><li>Familiarity with Government cybersecurity requirements, frameworks (e.g., NIST, RMF, FedRAMP), and operational policies. </li><li>Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect, or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). </li><li>Advanced Tech: Knowledge of Zero Trust Architecture, DevSecOps practices, and multi-cloud orchestration. </li><li>Experience supporting Intelligence Community (IC) programs. </li><li>Location: Herndon, VA - on customer site </li></ul> <p>GDIT IS YOUR PLACE:</p> <ul> <li>401K with company match </li><li>Comprehensive health and wellness packages </li><li>Internal mobility team dedicated to helping you build your skills and own your career </li><li>Professional growth opportunities including paid education and certifications </li><li>Cutting-edge technology you can learn from </li><li>Rest and recharge with paid vacation and 10 company-paid holidays </li></ul> <p>#OpportunityOwned</p> <p>#GDITCareers</p> <p>#WeAreGDIT</p> <p>#JET</p> <p>#GDITEnhanced2026</p> <p>#VA_2026Alumni</p> <p>The likely salary range for this position is $195,500 - $264,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary.
