<p>Posting Number 0801801 Classification Title Assistant Professor- Exercise Science Working Title Department Department of Agriculture and Life Sciences Department Contact Email kcarter2@centralstate.edu Job Summary/Basic Function</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>The Department of Agricultural and Life Sciences welcomes applications for a 9-month appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, Tenure Track. Appointment is set to begin August 2026.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Faculty typically teach 12 credit hours per semester (undergraduate), including entry-level as well as upper-level courses in their specialty area. </li><li>Faculty are expected to contribute to the program, department, University, and profession through appropriate service obligations, including the advising of students and committee service. </li><li>Teach undergraduate exercise science courses as assigned. </li><li>Work with community partners to set up sites for students' clinical experiences. </li><li>Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts. </li><li>Evaluate and grade students' class/lab work, assignments, and papers. </li><li>Collect and analyze data for program and university assessment. </li><li>Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records. </li><li>Compile, administer, and grade examinations. </li><li>Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions. </li><li>Advise students on academic and vocational curricula and on career issues. </li><li>Develop and use multimedia course materials and other current technology, such as online courses. </li><li>Perform administrative duties as needed. </li><li>Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching issues. </li><li>Assist department chair with continual program development. </li><li>Participate in unit meetings and other university-wide activities/committees. </li><li>Other duties as outlined in the Faculty Handbook. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of a PhD in exercise science, exercise physiology, kinesiology, athletic training, or related field. </li><li>Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communication skills. </li><li>Previous experience working with culturally diverse populations is a plus. </li><li>Cope effectively with adversity and demonstrate leadership skills that promote collegiality and cooperation. </li><li>Committed to the values of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Athletic Training, or related field.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Applicants with teaching experience are preferred.</p> <p>Posting Date 03/25/2026 Closing Date Open Until Filled Yes Special Instructions to Applicants</p> <p>All offer of employment at Central State University are contingent upon the successful completion of a comprehensive background check.
