<p>Job Title: Patient Financial Counselor</p> <p>Location: Chicago - North Side (Onsite training required, then hybrid)</p> <p>Pay Rate: $24/hour</p> <p>Job Type: Temp-to-Hire</p> <p>Job Overview:</p> <p>We are seeking a knowledgeable and compassionate Patient Financial Counselor to support patients and families with understanding their financial responsibilities. This role requires strong expertise in Medicare and Medicaid and the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically in a healthcare setting.</p> <p>This position will begin with 3 weeks of onsite training in Chicago, followed by a hybrid schedule (1 day onsite per week).</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provide financial counseling to patients and families, explaining insurance coverage, benefits, and out-of-pocket responsibilities </li><li>Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, with a strong focus on Medicare and Medicaid programs </li><li>Assist patients with financial clearance, payment planning, and available financial assistance options </li><li>Review and explain estimates, billing statements, and patient account balances </li><li>Support patients with Medicaid applications and follow up on pending approvals </li><li>Collaborate with internal teams (billing, admissions, case management) to ensure accurate financial documentation and timely processing </li><li>Address patient inquiries related to billing, coverage, and payment options in a professional and empathetic manner </li><li>Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with HIPAA and regulatory standards </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>2+ years of experience in a Patient Financial Counselor role </li><li>Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance verification processes </li><li>Experience discussing financial responsibility with patients and families in a healthcare setting </li><li>Excellent communication and customer service skills, with a compassionate and professional approach </li><li>Ability to manage sensitive financial conversations with empathy and discretion </li><li>Strong attention to detail and organizational skills </li><li>Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and billing systems </li></ul> <p>Benefits during contract include medical, dental, and vision insurance.</p> <p>Pay Details: $23.00 per hour</p> <p>Search managed by: Marissa Osorio</p> <p>Benefit offerings available for our associates include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits and a 401K plan.
