<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Position Description: Special Education Supervisor - Elementary</p> <p>General Scope of Responsibilities:</p> <p>For full job description: Job Description, Special Education Supervisor - Elementary</p> <p>Locations: Elementary beginning on July 1, 2026</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Connecticut Administrative Intermediate Certificate #092 </li><li>Connecticut Certification in Special Education #065, or Certification #061, #068, #070, #071, #165, or #113 </li><li>Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience in elementary education and special education </li><li>Additional qualifications as the Board may deem advisable </li></ul> <p>Essential Expectations:</p> <ul> <li>Oversee implementation of special education programs and services at the elementary level </li><li>Ensure compliance with IDEA, ADA, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations </li><li>Develop, review, and finalize IEPs in collaboration with IEP teams </li><li>Ensure services are delivered effectively and aligned with IEP requirements </li><li>Monitor classroom instruction and support teachers in implementing best practices </li><li>Support early intervention and MTSS implementation </li><li>Stay current with trends, research, and best practices in elementary special education </li><li>Participate in ongoing professional learning and leadership development </li><li>Provide training and guidance to staff on compliance, instruction, and student support </li><li>Collaborate with general education teachers, interventionists, and specialists to support inclusive practices </li><li>Work with principals and school leadership teams to align services with school goals </li><li>Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and services </li><li>Facilitate communication between schools and outside agencies or service providers </li><li>Coordinate transition meetings (PreK-K, Grade 5-6) to support continuity of services </li><li>Collaborate with district liaisons and specialized programs to ensure appropriate services </li><li>Supervise and support special education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers </li><li>Lead and facilitate department and team meetings </li></ul> <p>Performance Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Oversee a caseload of in-district, out-of-district, and magnet school elementary students </li><li>Assign case managers and ensure appropriate access to data and IEP management systems </li><li>Assist in assigning paraprofessionals based on student IEP needs </li><li>Support budget requests for special education programs and services </li><li>Maintain accurate and confidential records related to compliance and student services </li><li>Participate in district-level meetings, committees, and planning initiatives </li><li>Manage resources, staffing allocations, and program logistics within elementary buildings </li><li>Prepare and submit required district and state compliance reports </li><li>Coordinate accommodations for state assessments </li><li>Submit transportation requests and other required service documentation </li></ul> <p>Salary:</p> <ul> <li>Based on the Salary Schedule in the Montville Board of Education and Montville </li></ul> <p>Interested candidates should submit a completed application through AppliTrack:</p> <p>https://www.applitrack.com/montvilleschools/onlineapp/default.aspx</p> <p>Completed applications must be received by April 30, 2026.</p> <p>MONTVILLE IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER</p> <p>It is the policy of the Montville Public Schools to ensure equal employment opportunity to every person regardless of race, color, religion, creed, age, marital status, national origin, gender; gender identity or expression, sexual preference or physical and mental disability; and to ensure equal educational opportunity for all students and to prohibit unlawful discrimination because of race, color, religion, creed, age, marital status, national origin, gender, sexual preference, or physical and mental disability in the school district's educational program and activities.</p>
