<p>Position Summary & Description</p> <p>Summary</p> <p>EMS Instructor:</p> <p>The position reports to the director of the IRHS. In this position, you will instruct programs in area of responsibility which include Emergency Medical Services, American Heart Association Courses, industrial response medical. Programs include, but are not limited to grant funded and specially contracted courses, as well as training programs at satellite locations. Instructor is expected to maintain all professional credentials required of the position. Instructor is required to serve as a classroom instructor for programs in area of responsibility. As the primary instructor for these programs, the instructor is required to perform all tasks associated with responsibilities in areas of class preparation, conduct, student attendance records, test development and proctoring, student advisement and evaluation. The instructor will be required to perform other tasks as required/requested in support of the Institute for Rural Health and Safety, the College of Health and Human Services and the University.</p> <p>Duties</p> <p>EMS Instructor:</p> <p>To teach EMS Courses for the Institute.</p> <p>Position Qualifications</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <p>EMS Instructor:</p> <p>Required Qualifications will vary on course being taught.</p> <p>Verified experience as an emergency services provider in the items below or equivalent combination of education, experience and certification:</p> <ul> <li>Pennsylvania Department of Health Emergency Medical Service - Instructor and/or </li><li>Professional Certificate to practice the "art of teaching" and render professional service in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania </li><li>PA Department of Health Emergency Medical Technician </li><li>CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and First Aid Instructor (American Heart Association) </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Other desirable qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Associate Degree </li><li>Bachelor's Degree </li><li>Master's Degree </li><li>PA Department of Health - Advanced Emergency Medical Technician </li><li>Pennsylvania Department of Health Paramedic </li><li>Pre-hospital RN (PHRN) </li><li>Physician Assistant (PA-C) </li><li>Medical Doctor (MD) </li><li>Advanced Cardiac Life Support (American Heart Association) </li><li>Pediatric Advanced Life Support (American Heart Association) </li><li>Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions</p> <p>The work of this position occurs in a typical office environment. Although infrequent, periods of heavy exertion may occur. Incumbent must have the following abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to travel to field locations and meeting/training sites by motor vehicle when required. </li><li>Communicate both orally and in writing to issue, receive and carry out instructions and orders effectively and to convey information to a variety of co-workers and the general public. </li><li>Use a variety of common office machines such as telephones, calculators, copiers, computer terminals, keyboards, video display terminals, auxiliary printers and similar equipment. </li><li>Employee must be able to observe and react to hazard warnings, backup alarms, flashing lights, voice commands and hand signals. </li><li>Perform manual duties such as lifting and carrying various weight limits. </li><li>Operate office equipment which may require stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching and prolonged standing. </li><li>Provide assistance and guidance to internal and external customers. </li><li>Follow oral and written instructions. </li><li>Lift and carry - 25 to 50lbs, push and pull 25 to 50lbs, able to reach above/below shoulder, able to climb ladders, able to kneel, activities occur both indoors/outdoors. </li><li>Operate passenger vehicles. </li></ul> <p>Special Instructions to Applicants</p> <p>All applicants must submit a cover letter, resume, and an EMT or Paramedic Certification as an attachment via this online application system at https://www.schooljobs.com/careers/iupedu.
