<p>Close All</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Division of Public Safety at the University of Colorado Boulder is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Professional Accountability to lead and oversee all internal affairs, audits, inspections, and quality assurance functions. This senior leadership role reports directly to the Executive Director, Office of the Vice Chancellor for Public Safety and plays a critical part in shaping policy, ensuring compliance, and fostering a culture of integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement across the division.</p> <p>The Director will also manage education and training initiatives to ensure all personnel operate at the highest standards of professionalism and effectiveness. We value different backgrounds, identities and perspectives and believe that engagement with a wide range of ideas and viewpoints can help students learn and grow.</p> <p>What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Leadership & Collaboration: </li><li>Meet regularly with departmental leaders to foster collaboration, resolve issues, and develop strategic improvements. </li><li>Set division-wide goals and ensure successful execution through team leadership and follow-through. </li><li>Engage with institutional partners to develop cross-functional strategies and problem-solving initiatives. </li><li>Policy Development & Oversight: </li><li>Draft, propose, and implement policies and procedures ensuring consistency and compliance throughout the division. </li><li>Provide guidance and direct performance improvement processes, including counseling and corrective actions as needed. </li><li>Internal Affairs & Investigations: </li><li>Serve as a key advisor in collaboration with DPS HR and Department Leads. </li><li>Manage and conduct sensitive internal investigations of Public Safety employee misconduct. </li><li>Ensure due process, review case accuracy, and recommend final dispositions to Department Heads. </li><li>Train supervisors on investigation procedures and handle inquiries and complaints. </li><li>Early Warning/Intervention System: </li><li>Oversee proactive monitoring and intervention processes to support employee development and address issues early. </li><li>Partner with HR to ensure consistency and compliance with policies and disciplinary procedures. </li><li>Audits & Compliance: </li><li>Lead audits and compliance monitoring across the Division, identifying risks and ensuring adherence to regulations and policies. </li><li>Collaborate with University Legal Counsel and Clery Compliance Committee to prepare reports and address federal or administrative inquiries. </li><li>Training & Professional Development: </li><li>Assess training needs and develop programs to maintain regulatory compliance and optimize employee performance. </li><li>Maintain comprehensive training records and collaborate with internal and external training providers. </li><li>Staff Inspections & Quality Assurance: </li><li>Oversee annual inspections and audits to evaluate operational efficiency and asset management. </li><li>Deliver timely, actionable reports to leadership to ensure departmental performance aligns with stated goals and objectives. </li><li>Legal & Policy Compliance: </li><li>Partner with Senior Advisor of DPS & General Counsel to ensure legal compliance in policy development and implementation. </li><li>Coordinate with law enforcement and external agencies to maintain adherence to agreements and regulations. </li><li>Ensure compliance with the mandatory reporting obligations for sexual misconduct and protected class discrimination and harassment.
