<p>UTILITY WORKER-PW/GENERAL MAIN</p> <p>PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT</p> <p>GENERAL MAINTENANCE</p> <p>UTILITY WORKER</p> <p>This is a Full Time position with excellent benefits including Health Insurance, Life Insurance and Retirement Plan</p> <p>Work involves performing a wide range of manual duties associated with the installation, repair and maintenance of city streets and other substructures including digging, erecting street signs, breaking pavement, mixing and pouring concrete, cutting and clearing weeds and brush. Will use hand tools to dig, sweep, spread, level and move materials such as concrete, gravel, sand, dirt and asphalt. Drives various light equipment such as pick-up trucks, one-ton, single-axle dump trucks and farm tractor. Loads and unloads materials, supplies, tools and equipment. Cleans and maintains tools, equipment, materials and work area. Operates power equipment and backpack chemical sprayer. Will be required to perform physical work outdoors in various environmental conditions. Will be subject to heavy lifting, extensive standing, walking and stooping. Must be a high school graduate or have a GED. Must have at least three to six months experience performing heavy manual labor in construction maintenance or repair activities. Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid Class D driver's license, which must remain valid as a condition of continued employment. Must have the ability to read and write sentences with common vocabulary and must be able to communicate with co-workers. Must pass a background check, driver's license check and physical exam, including a drug screen. Bartlett resident preferred, but not required.
