Come join our TJX family-a Fortune 100 company and the world's leading off-price retailer.</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>Design, build and oversee global product safety and compliance functions within TJX's risk and compliance department. Oversee a diverse, global team tasked with ensuring TJX accounts for myriad merchandise laws and regulations, as well as appropriate risk tolerances, in its everyday operations and strategic plans. Advise leaders across TJX globally on a vast variety of product risks and regulations, including new and developing regulatory and reputational risks, identifying and implementing practical solutions that enable and empower business objectives while complying with applicable laws and managing and minimizing risk.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>Major Areas of Responsibility:</p> <ul> <li>Designs, builds and oversees TJX's program to comply with all product laws and safety requirements, as well as applicable internal or external standards, pertaining to the U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, European Union and Australia (and all the states, provinces, and territories therein), and any other countries in which TJX sells merchandise. </li><li>Oversees assessments, implementations and improvements of processes, procedures and technologies critical to TJX's product-compliance programs. </li><li>Advises leaders across TJX globally (especially merchandise ("Buy Safe") and logistics, distribution services, and store operations ("Sell Safe) leaders) on a vast variety of risks and regulations pertinent to product-compliance, including new and developing regulatory and reputational risks, identifying and implementing practical solutions that enable and empower business objectives while complying with applicable laws and managing and minimizing risk. </li><li>Reports to senior management on the status of TJX's product-compliance programs and identifies for senior management current and future needs for program resources. </li><li>Stays current on legal and business developments that impact the design and scale of the product-compliance program. </li><li>Manages, coaches, and mentors reports and develops them for future growth within the function and organization, with special attention to succession planning and ensuring TJX has the right personnel in place to timely and efficiently manage product risk. </li><li>Oversees performance and professional development of associates within the product-compliance function. </li><li>Instills and maintains focus on continuous improvement and appropriate, efficient and agile use of technology regarding all aspects of product risk and compliance. </li></ul> <p>Decision Making</p> <p>Hire/fire direct reports; responsible for key decisions or recommendations to the SVP+ level regarding products to purchase, destroy or recall as well as technology purchases and consulting, lab and other services related to the effective and efficient functioning of the product-compliance program.</p> <p>Job Knowledge</p> <p>Minimum formal education, if any, required to perform this job e.g., Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Law Degree):</p> <p>Bachelor's Degree</p> <p>Law, MBA or similar degree a plus</p> <p>Minimum job skills required to perform this job</p> <ul> <li>Excellent judgement, leadership, interpersonal, communication, organization, prioritization, technical, process-improvement, influencing, and management skills. </li><li>Significant experience with the off-price model. </li><li>Significant experience overseeing and managing teams and functions. </li><li>Experience championing and leading organizational change and development, with a focus on instilling a culture of continuous improvement. </li></ul> <p>Minimum experience required to perform this job:</p> <p>15+ years of off-price merchandising (and/or merchandising operations and/or technology), compliance, risk management, and/or regulatory/legal experience.</p> <p>Minimum 10 years of supervisory experience.</p> <p>Benefits include Associate discount; 401(k) match; medical/dental/vision; HSA; health care FSA; life insurance; short/long-term disability; paid holidays/vacation /sick/bereavement/parental leave; EAP; incentive programs for management; auto/home insurance discounts; tuition reimbursement; scholarship program; adoption/surrogacy assistance; smoking cessation; child care/cell phone discounts; pet/legal insurance; credit union; referral bonuses. Actual starting pay is determined by a number of factors, including relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.
