Responsible to meet the needs of infants, children and adolescents, including persons with special health care needs. Responsible for implementing preventive dental health habits that keep a child free from dental/oral disease. Responsible for oral examinations, examining x-rays, placing sealants, filling cavities, extracting teeth, and educating patients on how to care for their teeth and gums. Must be committed to caring for the oral health of SAC Health young patients.</p> <p>Schedule: 4 days per week, 10 hours per day, 7:00 am - 5:30 pm | Location: Split time between Indio and San Bernardino Clinic, CA</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DELIVERABLES</p> <ul> <li>Examine teeth, gums, and related tissues, using dental instruments, x-rays, or other diagnostic equipment, to evaluate dental health, diagnose diseases or abnormalities, and plan appropriate treatments. </li><li>Advise or instruct patients regarding preventive dental care, the causes and treatment of dental problems, or oral health care services. </li><li>Analyze or evaluate dental needs to determine changes or trends in patterns of dental disease. </li><li>Formulate plan of treatment for patient's teeth and mouth tissue. </li><li>Write prescriptions for antibiotics or other medications. </li><li>Treat exposure of pulp by pulp capping, removal of pulp from pulp chamber, or root canal, using dental instruments </li><li>Diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, or malformations of teeth, gums, or related oral structures and provide preventive or corrective services. </li><li>Use dental air turbines, hand instruments, dental equipment, or surgical instruments. </li><li>Perform oral or periodontal surgery on the jaw or mouth as needed. </li><li>Developing and Building Teams encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members. </li><li>Ability to communicate with all levels of staff members. </li><li>Updating and using relevant knowledge; keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job. </li><li>Must have the ability to communicate effectively to staff and patients. </li><li>Knowledge of Federal, State and institutional regulations and guidelines for the provision of dental services in a community clinic care setting. (OSHA, HIPPA, ADA). </li><li>Ability to handle difficult situations and patients; must be able to remain calm and have a pleasant demeanor. </li><li>Recommends improvements to processes as appropriate. </li><li>Participate in and emphasize a team - based approach to care. Work with the assigned team coordinating care around the patient. </li><li>Administer local anesthetic agents and /or nitrous oxide and oxygen for dental procedures; </li><li>Must be able to adhere to the Attendance policy and procedure. </li><li>Ability to collaborate, teach, support and function in a teaching organization that builds, coaches and embraces interns and residency programs. Must demonstrate a passion for the team and have the ability to consistently work with rotating doctors, residents and interns, while continuously building a trusting, safe, patient centered workplace. </li><li>Demonstrate the ability to be culturally sensitive and respect diversity, work effectively and with individuals of different cultures and socioeconomic status; Passion for service. It is the expectation of SACHS that all staff members exhibit critical thinking and problem solving skills which means going above and beyond your job description to find a solution. </li><li>Other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director of Dental. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Education: Graduate of a 4 year ADA accredited Dental School, with a Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S). Must have completed a 2 year postgraduate program specializing in Pediatric Dentistry. </li><li>Licensure/Certification: Valid California DMD or DDS license, DEA Certificate, Current CPR/BLS certification (must be American Heart Association or Red Cross accredited program). As a requirement of this position, you must receive EPIC certification for the module you have been hired into. Valid California driver's license, and auto insurance. Continued Education certificate on Dental Practice Act and Infection Control. </li><li>Experience: Minimum of 2 to 3 years in a pediatric clinic setting preferred. </li><li>Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Visual acuity and reading ability sufficient to effectively read records and documents, and to accurately view information on a computer monitor; Good eye hand coordination, eyesight (vision may be corrected) and finger dexterity necessary for close attention to detail and handling of sharp instruments. </li><li>Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with a genuine desire to help people; able to work within a team environment; leadership qualities; able to make sound decisions; Ability to tactfully deal with patients and stimulate interest and motivation to all age groups in the prevention of dental disease. </li><li>Essential Mental Abilities: Manual dexterity and strength sufficient to enter information via computer keyboard for long periods of time, to write notes and information as needed, and to pick up and hold paperwork, supplies and other items; Speaking and hearing ability sufficient to handle phone and in-person conversations with patients /clients, providers and other staff; Must have annual TB test & / or complete TB questionnaire annually. Knowledge and understanding of dental surgery and associated procedures, terminology and techniques; Ability to independently assess the nature and extent of dental, periodontal, and associated conditions and pathology in dental outpatients; Follow all infection control procedures including blood-borne pathogen protocols; Maintain current knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to safe work practices and follow all safety procedures and report unsafe conditions. </li><li>Work Eligibility: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
