<p>The School of Education seeks an instructor to teach, SWK 781 - Alcohol and Other Drugs in Human Service Settings (3 credits), in-person, main campus program.</p> <p>Introduces theory and practice strategies appropriate to understand and address alcohol and other drug problems among clients in various human services settings.</p> <p>This course provides relevant theory and skills needed by social workers to address the alcohol and other drug (AOD) problems they will encounter with clients in various practice settings. The course uses lecture, discussion, case study, videos, music, and field experiences to facilitate learning in the following areas: Current theory pertaining to AOD problems, the role of self-help (mutual aid) groups, assessment strategies appropriate to human services settings, motivational enhancement, relapse prevention, family issues, key public policy issues, and the chemical dependency treatment system. The influence of gender, age, race, disability, and sexual orientation on addiction and recovery are also addressed. In keeping with the "personal awareness" aspect of social work practice, the course involves critical exploration by students of their own attitudes and beliefs regarding AOD.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>MSW with previous online graduate-level social work teaching experience preferred. </li><li>Candidate must have two years post-masters experience. </li></ul> <p>Job Specific Qualifications</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Developing and/or updating a class syllabus. </li><li>Preparation of lectures, projects, or other student assignments. </li><li>Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours. </li><li>Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course. </li><li>Meeting all designated class periods. </li><li>Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations. </li><li>Grading student assignments and exams in timely manner. </li><li>Completion and submission of CSWE competency-based student outcomes for department assessment/accreditation. </li><li>Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations. </li><li>Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Tools/Equipment</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Application Instructions</p> <p>Please submit a resume/CV and cover letter.</p>
