<p>Community Health Alliance is looking for Per Diem Dental Hygienist. Join our talented team of Dental providers that focus on serving the community and helping those in need by creating healthy outcomes for patients of every income.</p> <p>We operate six convenient locations throughout Reno and Sparks, providing comprehensive, top-quality medical services, dental and pediatric care, behavioral health, low-cost pharmacies, nourishing food pantries, and more.</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) provides preventive and therapeutic dental hygiene services to patients of all ages under the general supervision of a licensed dentist in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) setting. As a per diem member of the dental team, the RDH supports clinical efficiency, patient education, and quality care.</p> <p>At Community Health Alliance a Nonprofit (FQHC), we believe in having a professional, team-oriented medical community. Providing a high level of care with compassion and respect.</p> <p>What We Offer</p> <ul> <li>Competitive Salary Range: $70,938 - $106,407 (Hourly equivalent based on experience) </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)</p> <ul> <li>Comprehensive knowledge of dental prophylaxis, scaling and root planing, sealants, fluoride application, and use of dental instruments. </li><li>Understanding of periodontal disease, caries development, oral pathology, and signs of systemic conditions manifesting in the oral cavity. </li><li>Knowledge of local anesthetic techniques and nitrous oxide use, including indications, contraindications, and emergency protocols (as certified). </li><li>Proficiency in digital radiography techniques, safety, interpretation, and diagnostic utility. </li><li>Familiarity with sterilization techniques, cross-contamination prevention, and regulatory compliance (OSHA, CDC). </li><li>Knowledge of EHR documentation, dental coding systems (CDT, ICD-10), and payer documentation requirements. </li><li>Understanding of patient confidentiality, data protection, and proper information sharing. </li><li>Knowledge of behavioral change principles, oral hygiene education, and nutritional counseling strategies. </li><li>Awareness of the FQHC model, health disparities, and community-based care principles. </li><li>Highly developed manual dexterity and tactile sensitivity for delivering preventive and therapeutic hygiene procedures with precision. </li><li>Ability to assess patient needs, interpret clinical data, and identify conditions requiring referral or further evaluation. </li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills for educating patients, documenting care, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. </li><li>Skilled at establishing rapport with diverse populations and promoting patient-centered care. </li><li>Efficient at managing schedules, maintaining flow in busy clinics, and balancing direct care with administrative duties. </li><li>Ability to work cohesively with dentists, assistants, and front desk staff to support a coordinated care model. </li><li>Skill in coaching, mentoring, and evaluating dental assistants and students in a clinical setting. </li><li>Proficiency in using digital tools including EHR, imaging systems, intraoral cameras, and practice management software. </li><li>Ability to adjust to varying patient needs, staffing levels, and organizational priorities in a per diem role. </li><li>Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and respect differing beliefs and values. </li><li>Ability to ensure accuracy in clinical documentation, coding, infection control, and compliance tasks. </li><li>Ability to provide supportive care, especially to patients with dental anxiety or complex needs. </li><li>Capacity to clearly convey procedures and health education to patients and effectively precept students. </li><li>Ability to model CHA's core values in interactions with patients, staff, and the community. </li><li>Ability to identify issues, suggest improvements, and participate in quality improvement initiatives without prompting. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Graduate of an accredited dental hygiene program. </li><li>Current Registered Dental Hygienist license in Nevada. </li><li>Current CPR and radiology safety certification. </li><li>Certification for local anesthetic and nitrous oxide administration (required). </li><li>Must obtain and maintain a Special Health Endorsement from the Nevada State Board of Dental Examiners in order to participate in community outreach activities involving screenings and fluoride varnish application. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience in community health or FQHC settings. </li><li>Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency. </li></ul> <p>Familiarity with dental EHR systems</p>
