<p>NOTE: Please include transcripts and evidence of any certifications as listed in the Preferred Qualifications.</p> <p>SALARY (Non-negotiable) View Classified Salary Scale</p> <p>$35,621 - $45,621 (with benefits package)</p> <p>Pay Grade 16</p> <p>HOURS</p> <p>35 hours/week, 10 months, 182 days</p> <p>FLSA: Non-exempt</p> <p>Contract Unit: This position is part of the non-supervisory support services bargaining unit.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>A high school diploma or equivalent (GED).</p> <p>Effective communication skills including ability to interpret both signed and voice communication in ASL and Signed English.</p> <p>Thorough understanding of deaf culture.</p> <p>Verification of applicable course work.</p> <p>Ability to work cooperatively with students, classroom teachers and special educators.</p> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Associate's degree from Interpreter Preparation program or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university, or 5 years of experience in sign language interpreting.</p> <p>NIC (National Interpreter Certification) EIPA 2.5 or above (Educational Interpreter Performance assessment) Certifications, or State QAS level III.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Provide communication access to students who are deaf or hard of hearing by faithfully and accurately representing the classroom instruction, teacher/student dialogue, and relevant sound information in the mode of communication used by the student.</p> <p>Support educational goals set by the IEP team.</p> <p>Use the appropriate modality, language and language level appropriate for student as designated by the student's IEP.</p> <p>Ensure that teacher's message is being conveyed clearly and accurately while also ensuring student has the opportunity to participate in classroom discussions and social interactions.</p> <p>Maintain confidentiality and follow RID's Professional Code of Conduct.</p> <p>Work cooperatively with students, classroom teachers and special educators.</p>
