<p>Job Description:</p> <p>POSITION: Girls Assistant Volleyball Coach - Bristol Central High School</p> <p>REPORTS TO: BUILDING PRINCIPAL/SUPERVISOR OF ATHLETICS</p> <p>SUMMARY: To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team</p> <p>success while at the same time helping the athlete to achieve an appreciation for the values of discipline, sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.</p> <ul> <li>Has full responsibility for the overall supervision of their program, including the junior varsity and freshman teams. </li><li>Is in charge of assignments and duties of assistant coaches working in their sport. </li><li>Is responsible for the general upkeep, protection, and inventory of the equipment and uniforms used in their sport including the junior varsity and freshman teams. </li><li>Is responsible for assuring that assistant coaches and themselves know the existing state and league regulations and abide by them at all times. </li><li>Assist the athletic coordinator in providing transportation and requirements for tournament and special sport events. </li><li>Attend all league meetings regarding scheduling and rule updates specific to their sport. </li><li>Responsible for developing their schedules for all levels of play. </li><li>Communicates all schedule changes to the Director of Athletics or athletic coordinator. </li><li>Provides proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment storage areas. </li><li>Assist in the necessary preparation to hold scheduled sport events or practices, and adheres to scheduled facility times. </li><li>Makes recommendations for awards and is responsible for clarification of the award policy to athletes. </li><li>Participates in the budgeting process with the Director of Athletics by establishing requirements for the next season. Is responsible for explaining equipment guidelines as to type, color, style, or technical specifications. Is responsible for operating within the established budget. </li><li>Has a thorough knowledge of policies and procedures in the student-athlete handbook and CIAC handbook. Is responsible for explaining and reinforcing rules of training and code of conduct in the student-athlete handbook along with the CIAC eligibility rules to all members of the team. </li><li>Establishes the fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques to be taught by the staff. </li><li>Follows and has a good understanding of the basic NCAA recruiting rules for their specific sport. </li><li>Monitors equipment rooms and coaches' office, i.e.: permits athletes to only be in authorized areas of the building at the appropriate times. Never leave athletes unsupervised during scheduled practices. </li><li>Examines locker rooms, equipment rooms, and playing safe areas before and after team use checking general cleanliness and safety. </li><li>Secures all doors, lights, windows, gates, locks, and alarm when leaving the building or outside facility when custodians are not on duty. </li></ul> <p>NOTE: Coaches must meet certification requirements set by the State of Connecticut.</p> <p>Coaching Certificate Required.</p> <p>QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Valid Connecticut coaching certification or temporary emergency coaching permit. </li><li>Updated CPR/First Aid training approved by Connecticut State Department of Education. </li><li>Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program. </li><li>Has substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport. </li></ul> <p>START DATE: June 1, 2026</p> <p>SALARY: Per Contract</p> <p>WORK HOURS: Starts After School</p> <p>APPLICATION: If you are currently employed by the Bristol Board of Education, please complete an internal application online by 4:00pm March 6, 2026 .</p> <p>All others please fill out an online application at www.applitrack.com/bristol/onlineapp.</p>
