Interested applicants must apply online by visiting the Denver Public Schools job board at careers.dpsk12.org.</p> <p>About this job:</p> <p>Conducts investigations that are designed to identify persons committing criminal acts or violations of internal policy within and against the District and students and staff members of the District. Assists in the process of conducting pre-hire and other employee background investigations as required by state law. Conducts internal investigations of school District employees as required.</p> <p>What DPS Offers You:</p> <ul> <li>A Culture that values Equity, Accountability, Integrity, Collaboration and Fun with a shared vision that Every Learner Thrives. </li><li>Salary Range. $64,221- $77,064 annually Click here for more information on compensation for these roles. </li><li>In addition to competitive compensation, DPS has other Total Reward offerings such as; time off, health and wellness benefits, and PERA Retirement. </li></ul> <p>What You'll Do:</p> <ul> <li>Conducts internal investigations into violations of District policy and/or federal, state, or local laws; collects evidence that supports investigations; prepares and maintains accurate logs and completes reports and other documentation; and maintains the confidentiality and organization of files of investigations conducted as well as information received. </li><li>Conducts thorough background investigations of potential and current District employees as required or upon request of the Superintendent of Schools, the Chief of Security, or designee; takes fingerprints and identification photographs as support to other security staff members as necessary. </li><li>Conducts internal investigations utilizing interviews and interrogations, technical equipment, and other types of tools and techniques as are lawfully allowed and deemed necessary and as approved by supervisory authority. </li><li>Conducts research and investigations using the Colorado Crime Information Center (CCIC)/National Crime Information Center (NCIC), Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and other criminal justice information files. </li><li>Develops and maintains close working relationships with law enforcement and other criminal justice authorities and provides assistance and information when requested and when allowed by federal or state laws. </li><li>Provides security for Board of Education and cabinet members; consults and collaborates with principals, administrators, managers, directors, and attorneys on matter of safety and security. </li><li>Assumes and conducts supervision responsibilities at crime scene locations. </li><li>Ensures that security supervisory and management personnel are notified of breaches of security or information received regarding sensitive matters occurring on District properties or regarding District employees. </li><li>Ensures the maintenance and good working order of assigned equipment and proficiency in the use of any authorized firearm carried in the performance of duties; attends required firearms training; and conforms to all uniform, weapons, and safety policy requirements. </li></ul> <p>What You'll Need:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree plus sixty (60) classroom hours of post-secondary education in a field related to law enforcement or criminal justice is strongly preferred. </li><li>Five (5) years of investigative experience with a federal, state, or local law enforcement agency, military, criminal, or internal investigative units or multi-faceted security agencies. </li><li>Must be able to obtain and maintain any licenses required by the District, the City and County of Denver, or any state of federal licensure requirements as current or in the future; Maintain eligibility for Denver Police Special Police Officer authorization. </li><li>Colorado P.O.S.T. or other state's equivalent training is a plus for consideration. </li><li>Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education. </li><li>Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us. </li><li>Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position. </li></ul> <p>Denver Public Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender expression, and sexual orientation), parental status, national origin, age, disability, genetic information (including family medical history), political affiliation, military service, or any other status protected by law or regulations.
