<p>SUBJECT: Athletic Coaching - South High - Varsity Football - Fall 2025</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Building Principal and the Director of Intramural and Interscholastic Athletics</p> <p>The fall athletic season begins August 18, 2025 and will end approximately on November 1, 2025 pending playoffs.</p> <p>Football season runs from August 15, 2025 and will end approximately on November 27, 2025 pending playoffs.</p> <p>The Director of Intramural and Interscholastic Athletics will meet with all fall coaches prior to the start of the season.</p> <p>ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE: To organize, coordinate and promote a comprehensive athletic program in the assigned sport that is designed to meet the needs and interests of the school community. To provide effective leadership that will ensure a positive learning environment and will stress the importance of academic achievement. To demonstrate a high degree of ethics, professionalism, human relations and be a positive role model for all students.</p> <p>PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Responsible for planning, organizing and implementing the teaching of fundamentals, strategies, rules and proper conditioning in the assigned sport.</p> </li><li> <p>Issue, collect, inventory and return equipment, uniforms and other materials (e.g., team roster, first aid kit, coach's handbook) consistent with department guidelines.</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for adequate supervision of all students involved in the program and ensuring the safety of participants by inspecting facilities and equipment and being aware of environmental conditions.</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for supervision of student athletes in locker rooms and on buses.</p> </li><li> <p>Instruct participants in safety procedures and in the need to report injuries to the coach and/or trainer immediately; implement appropriate procedures for handling injury situations; ensure the availability of a properly supplied first aid kit.</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for submitting coach's game report within 24 hours of each game.</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for completing and submitting the following to the Athletic Director and the appropriate principal:</p> <ul> <li>Accident Reports </li><li>Disciplinary Action </li><li>Parent Complaints </li></ul> </li><li> <p>Responsible for attending a variety of sporting events and related activities, including Wellness Programs, as assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Intramural and Interscholastic Athletics including, but not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Eligibility list with grades and attendance at the start of each season </li><li>Collection of each form given at the beginning of each season from the players </li><li>Adhering to the policies and procedures of the Coach's Handbook </li><li>Signing and returning the coach's evaluation at the completion of each season </li></ul> </li></ol> <p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Expertise and training in appropriate areas of athletics (rules of sport, techniques of coaching), organization and administration</p> </li><li> <p>Thorough working knowledge of MIAA Policies and Procedures</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability to work with students, officials and the community</p> </li><li> <p>Commitment to provide equal opportunity in sports for all students</p> </li><li> <p>CPR Certification</p> </li><li> <p>First Aid Certification</p> </li><li> <p>MIAA Coach Certification</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for assuring equal educational opportunity to all individuals regardless of race, color, gender, age, marital status, religion, gender identity, national origin, sexual orientation, homelessness, or disability.</p> </li><li> <p>Performance of other job-related duties as assigned</p> </li></ol> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Extensive background in coaching, officiating and fundraising</p> </li><li> <p>Flexibility with work hours, duties, assignments</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated experience supporting students with special needs</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to speak Albanian, Arabic, Nepali, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese or an African Language.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated experience with second language acquisition</p> </li></ol> <p>NOTE: Preference will be given to qualified candidates for coaching positions who possess MIAA certification.
