<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Position Description:</p> <p>Assist the classroom teacher by helping physically, mentally, and/or educationally disadvantaged students learn skills that will broaden their educational experiences and contribute to their development, and assist in creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning for all students.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Assist students with physical and/or educational needs both individually and in small groups. </li><li>Collaborate with classroom teachers regarding students' needs and requirements, including the IEP goal.s </li><li>Provide escort and mobility assistance to student(s) when necessary </li><li>Receive oral or written instructions from the supervising teacher </li><li>Maintain student records, including progress reports, attendance, etc. </li><li>Record student learning data as directed </li><li>Assist in the preparation and distribution of lesson plan materials </li><li>Communicate positively with parents on the progress of students </li><li>Act as an expert classroom support to substitute in the absence of the teacher </li><li>Assist students with classwork </li><li>Assist with recess, supervision, restroom breaks, emergency drills, assemblies, field trips, etc. </li><li>Maintain respect at all times for confidential information </li><li>Attend meetings and professional development training as required </li><li>Prepare materials for class projects </li><li>Interact positively with staff, students, and parents </li><li>Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude, and conversation </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher/Principal </li></ul> <p>Knowledge/Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Experience working with young children </li><li>Ability to implement behavioral goals </li><li>Ability to understand child development </li><li>Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing </li><li>Practical, active listening skills </li><li>Ability to work effectively with others </li><li>Organizational and problem-solving skills </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>4-year degree preferred, years of experience with children </li><li>Associate's degree or Para Pro certificate </li><li>Teaching experience desired </li><li>Experience working in a school setting; public school preferred </li><li>Experience working with students with special needs </li><li>Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred </li></ul> <p>Days: Monday - Friday</p> <p>Salary: In accordance with the WFEP contract</p> <p>.</p> <p>Apply at:</p> <p>Windham Public Schools</p> <p>WINDHAM IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER</p> <p>It is the policy of the Windham Public Schools to ensure equal employment opportunity to every person regardless of race, color, religion, creed, age, marital status, national origin, gender; gender identity or expression, sexual preference or physical and mental disability; and to ensure equal educational opportunity for all students and to prohibit unlawful discrimination because of race, color, religion, creed, age, marital status, national origin, gender, sexual preference, or physical and mental disability in the scdistrict'sict's educational program and activities.</p>
