<p>This Opportunity</p> <p>WSP is currently initiating a search for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, Lead Geochemist to join our dynamic team in?Lakewood, CO. Other WSP office locations or remote may be considered for an exceptional candidate. Be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.</p> <p>The selected candidate will support geochemistry and hydrogeochemistry related projects and proposal efforts with an emphasis on the mining industry. Projects typically involve permitting, baseline studies, operational support, closure, and reclamation/remediation. We are looking for someone to bring their talents, training, enthusiasm, and solutions-oriented focus to work as a valued and respected member of our multidisciplinary team as we tackle some of the world's most challenging environmental problems by delivering some of the world's most relevant solutions.</p> <p>Your Impact</p> <ul> <li>Providing support and leadership for geochemical projects, including permitting, baseline studies, operational support, closure, and reclamation/remediation, in particular for the mining industry, but also for the oil and gas, power, and solid waste industries </li><li>Conducting geochemical investigation and characterization studies associated with groundwater, surface water, waste, and geological materials </li><li>Interact with our larger closure team to participate in multidisciplinary projects, providing technical support and leading selected tasks </li><li>Validating, management, and analysis of geochemical data </li><li>Conducting water quality and geochemical modeling </li><li>Preparing report and presentations and participating in client meetings </li><li>Managing projects according to client-approved scopes of work, and deliver high-quality reports on time and within budget </li><li>Demonstrating a "Safety-First" focus </li><li>Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. </li><li>Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. </li></ul> <p>Who You Are</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>A Bachelor's Degree in Geochemistry (preferably MSc or PhD) with a focus on geology, environmental science, geological engineering, or related field </li><li>Over 10 years of experience working as an aqueous or mining geochemist, with at least 5 years of consulting experience. </li><li>Strong understanding of chemistry and geology. Experience with hydrogeology and hydrology is an asset </li><li>Experience with data management and statistical tools (e.g., Excel, EQuIS, Python, R) </li><li>Experience with geochemical and water quality modeling using common codes (i.e., PHREEQC, Geochemist's Workbench, GoldSim, MIN3P, etc.) </li><li>Ability to direct and execute written reports and presentations to convey technical results to a range of audiences </li><li>Strong self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of the organization. </li><li>Ability to interact with a wide variety of sources, including project managers, clients, and sector-wide staff. </li><li>Works independently, with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a collaborative work environment; provides guidance and leadership to mid-level to senior level team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC. </li><li>Strong written and verbal communications skills </li><li>Eligible to work permanently in the United States </li><li>Must successfully complete and pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screening. </li><li>Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. </li><li>Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment. </li><li>Occasional travel, including international, may be required depending on project-specific requirements </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Previous experience working as a consulting geochemist or scientist </li><li>Experience in design and implementation of field programs </li><li>Experience with data validation techniques for environmental data </li><li>Working knowledge of isotope geochemistry </li><li>Knowledge of organic contaminants and microbially-mediated degradation processes </li><li>Knowledge of coal combustion residue (CCR) chemistry and regulatory context </li><li>Understanding of laboratory analytical methods </li><li>MSHA 24hr level qualified or recertification eligible </li><li>HAZWOPER 40hr Operations level qualified or recertification eligible </li></ul> <p>WSP Benefits:</p> <p>WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee's career. These benefits include coverage related to medical, dental, vision, disability, and life; retirement savings; paid sick leave; paid vacation (or other personal time); paid parental leave; and paid time off for purposes of bereavement, voting, and/or attendance at naturalization proceedings.</p> <p>Expected Salary (Colorado only): $97,100 - $186,000</p> <p>WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.</p> <p>#LI-MC2</p>
