The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior.</p> <p>The Correctional Farm Crew Leader at Western Kentucky Correctional Complex supervises a crew of inmates in the farm operations area of the institution.</p> <p>Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:</p> <ul> <li>Supervise inmates in farm activities (planting, cultivating, harvesting crops, feeding livestock, cleaning out barns, cutting bushes, pulling plants, transplanting seedlings, fence repairs, etc. </li><li>Provide direction to inmates on proper use of farm tools and care of livestock. </li><li>Enforce safety measures. </li><li>Maintain records and additional logs of supplies and inmate work time. </li><li>Maintain inventory. </li><li>Maintain preventative maintenance schedule on all farm equipment and maintain proper cleaning and storage of tractors and equipment. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Requirements</p> <p>EDUCATION: High school graduate.</p> <p>EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have one year of agricultural or landscaping/grounds keeping experience.</p> <p>Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education or training in agriculture or a related field will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.</p> <p>Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE</p> <p>SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be twenty-one (21) years of age. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.
