<p>Electric Machinery Company a division of WEG Electric Corp Minneapolis Minnesota POSITION Mechanical Engineer DEPARTMENT Engineering Department Primary Objective of Position The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for high level of execution of product design that specifies what is required materials tolerances limits etc on the product line documentation that includes motors generators and magnetic drives Supports customer orders from the proposal phase through the design development manufacturing testing and field serviceaftermarket phases The Mechanical Engineer works in a team environment to insure collaboration and sharing of best mechanical engineering practices within the WEG Company Major Areas of Accountability Develops and maintains Design Standards to govern the conventional and computerized mechanical design analysis methods and facilitates the design process reducing design lead timesActively manages project plans for product development consistent with the overall company strategic plan driving them to completionProvides input to management for financial planning capital planning and product developmentMay supervise work activities of the engineers drafters and other support personnel assigned to the project Orient motivate define design objectives and delegate workReviews customers specification and offer technical advice Visit customer sites to determine how to best apply machine design technology and improve machine performanceDirects standardized models that substantially reduce design cost and time for products and systemsProvides technical and engineering support to other departments KnowledgeSkillsAbilities BS Mechanical Engineering degree required; machine design emphasis preferredMinimum of 2 3 years experience in the design or development of large motors andor generators or equal level of product complexityProficient with SolidWorks AutoCAD Microsoft Office Products including Word Excel PowerPoint and ProjectStrong design background involving mechanical structural analysis thermal analysis using both conventional and computerized ANSYS and CFX mechanical design analysis methodsDemonstrated ability to understand evaluate and solve complex issues of technical content with guidance and technical supportCommunicate and interact effectively across all levels of the organization and customersExcellent verbal and written communication skills are essentialSelf starting results oriented flexible and team playerAbility to coordinate and manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyAbility to lead and interact with teams to obtain consensus and as an individual contributorAbility to efficiently and effectively manage completion of assignments through appropriate personnelAbility to adhere to a work schedule that may require travel including domestic and international travelPhysical Requirements Physical ability to travel freely within manufacturing and office facilities This requires climbing stairs and moving over around and about shop machinery Have the physical ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds unassisted Salary 65k to 75k Will compensate with experience Position is full time Company cannot provide sponsorship for this position Please no agencies</p>
