<p>NOTICE OF VACANCY</p> <p>Seciton 504 Coordinator</p> <p>2025-2026</p> <p>11-Month Position</p> <p>Immediate Opening</p> <p>Are you a passionate educator ready to step into a leadership opportunity where you can advocate for students with disabilities? Montgomery County Public Schools in Virginia is seeking highly qualified candidates for a 504 Coordinator position for the 2025-2026 school year. We are seeking dedicated professionals who can expertly navigate federal guidelines to develop and implement effective 504 plans, empowering students to thrive both academically and personally. Join us in fostering an inclusive environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed.</p> <p>PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>The Section 504 Coordinator supports student programs through the Department of Student Services. The primary responsibility of this position is to develop and maintain a caseload of Section 504 Plans for qualified students with disabilities. The Coordinator will be assigned to multiple schools and will need to work closely with building staff to identify and receive referrals, communicate with parents, schedule meetings, evaluate eligibility, coordinate services, share plans with teachers, and oversee the program in the school.</p> <p>DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL SKILLS:</p> <ul> <li>Develop and implement procedures to identify and locate students who are disabled according to Section 504 </li><li>Disseminate information about Section 504 to parents and school staff </li><li>Develop and implement Section 504 Plans for eligible students </li><li>Collect and maintain all Section 504 data on students with Section 504 Plans in assigned buildings </li><li>Serve as a resource person to explain Section 504 and promote compliance </li><li>Participate as a member of the Student Assistance Programming Team, as needed </li><li>Assist in the development of Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans </li><li>Assist the Supervisor of School Counseling and Section 504 in developing and conducting in-service training for school staff </li><li>Maintain open communication with students, parents, principals, and the Director of Student Services & Safety </li><li>Demonstrate an understanding of applicable local, state, and federal educational laws, regulations, policies, and requirements </li><li>Create and maintain an inclusive, supportive learning environment that respects the diverse backgrounds and needs of all students </li><li>Communicate effectively with strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills </li><li>Engage and collaborate effectively with parents and families </li><li>Collaborate with other teachers and contribute to a positive team environment </li><li>Demonstrate dependability, punctuality, and reliability in fulfilling responsibilities </li><li>Maintain an unquestionable degree of confidentiality </li><li>Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director of Student Services & Safety </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Hold a bachelor's degree in Education or related field </li><li>Hold or immediately be eligible for a Virginia teaching license </li><li>Three years of successful experience as a teacher </li><li>Demonstrated leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, teachers, and parents </li><li>Knowledge of Tier 1, 2, and 3 accommodations and discipline procedures for students with disabilities </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Endorsement in Special Education </li><li>Prior familiarity and experience with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 </li><li>Familiarity with the PCG Education Virginia IEP System. </li><li>Master's degree in Educational Leadership from an accredited institution </li><li>Post Graduate Professional license with administration and supervision endorsement </li></ul> <p>SALARY: $61,024.32 - $104,758.22 annually, with benefits; commensurate with experience</p> <p>FLSA Status: Exempt</p> <p>BENEFITS:</p> <p>Anthem Medical Plans - Multiple options available for comprehensive medical and prescription coverage</p> <p>Ameritas Vision Plan - Coverage includes eye exams, lenses, frames, and contact lenses</p> <p>Delta Dental Plan - FREE Delta Dental coverage for employees, spouses, and families</p> <p>Carilion EAP - FREE Confidential Employee Assistance Program providing support for mental health, legal, financial concerns, and crisis support available to employees and their families</p> <p>Generous Employee Leave Benefits - MCPS offers leave benefits for PT and FT employees, including paid sick leave, personal leave, funeral leave, and annual leave.
