This is a temporary, non-exempt summer internship position based at our Headquarters in Herndon, VA.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <p>Support the Information Technology team including, but not limited to, the following areas:</p> <p>Helpdesk Support</p> <ul> <li>Respond to and resolve IT support tickets in a timely and professional manner. </li><li>Troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues for end users. </li><li>Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff as needed and document resolutions. </li></ul> <p>Laptop Inventory & Asset Management</p> <ul> <li>Maintain accurate records of IT hardware assets including laptops, monitors, and peripherals. </li><li>Assist with receiving, tagging, and tracking new equipment through the asset lifecycle. </li><li>Conduct periodic inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies. </li></ul> <p>Laptop Cleanup & Provisioning</p> <ul> <li>Image, configure, and deploy laptops for new hires and refresh cycles. </li><li>Perform data wipes and hardware inspections on returned equipment. </li><li>Ensure devices meet organizational standards before deployment. </li></ul> <p>Antivirus & Endpoint Security</p> <ul> <li>Monitor antivirus and endpoint protection dashboards for alerts and compliance gaps. </li><li>Assist with deploying security agents and ensuring all endpoints are protected. </li><li>Support incident response procedures related to malware or security events. </li></ul> <p>ISO Compliance</p> <ul> <li>Assist in maintaining documentation and evidence for ISO 27001 or equivalent security frameworks. </li><li>Support internal audits by gathering and organizing compliance artifacts. </li><li>Help enforce IT policies and procedures aligned with organizational security standards. </li></ul> <p>Patch Management</p> <ul> <li>Assist in testing, scheduling, and deploying OS and application patches across the fleet. </li><li>Monitor patch compliance and generate status reports. </li><li>Coordinate with teams to minimize disruption during maintenance windows. </li></ul> <p>Automation</p> <ul> <li>Identify repetitive IT tasks suitable for automation and propose solutions. </li><li>Develop scripts or workflows using PowerShell, Python, or similar tools to streamline operations. </li><li>Document automated processes for team reference and continuity. </li></ul> <p>Azure AD Cleanup</p> <ul> <li>Audit Azure Active Directory for stale accounts, orphaned groups, and configuration inconsistencies. </li><li>Assist with user lifecycle management including onboarding and offboarding tasks. </li><li>Support enforcement of conditional access policies and group-based licensing. </li></ul> <p>Work Experience</p> <ul> <li>Prior internship or coop experience is preferred but not required. </li></ul> <p>Job Skills</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of computer science fundamentals (algorithms, programming languages, data structures, database design, operating systems, etc.). </li><li>Basic understanding of Windows operating systems and common business applications. </li><li>Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. </li><li>Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a part-time schedule. </li><li>Familiarity with Microsoft 365 administration and Azure Active Directory (preferred). </li><li>Exposure to scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python (preferred). </li><li>Knowledge of ITIL fundamentals or IT service management concepts (preferred). </li><li>Understanding of ISO 27001 or similar information security frameworks (preferred). </li><li>Experience with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow, Jira, or Freshdesk (preferred). </li><li>Excellent problem-solving skills. </li><li>Strong desire to learn new technologies and apply them to real-world problems. </li><li>Ability to work in a team environment. </li><li>Exhibits the characteristics of a continuous learner. </li></ul> <p>Education</p> <ul> <li>Required to be currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field. </li></ul> <p>What You'll Gain</p> <ul> <li>Real-world experience in enterprise IT operations and security compliance. </li><li>Mentorship from experienced IT professionals. </li><li>Exposure to cloud technologies, automation tools, and industry best practices. </li><li>A strong foundation for a career in IT support, systems administration, or cybersecurity. </li></ul> <p>Certificates, Licenses and Registrations</p> <ul> <li>None. </li></ul> <p>Communication Skills</p> <ul> <li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Ability to write clear and creative content of the findings. </li></ul> <p>Travel</p> <ul> <li>None. </li></ul> <p>Environmental Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Mainly sedentary;
