Buffett, acquired Precision Castparts Corp.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Senior Metallurgist (titanium aerospace plant!) - Toronto, Ohio mill</p> <p>Nationwide USA talent search</p> <p>Email resume directly to Christian.Grassa@timet.com to expedite the application process!</p> <p>Senior Metallurgist summary:</p> <p>The Senior Metallurgist is responsible for the maintenance of all technical and metallurgical quality aspects of the products manufactured by the TIMET Toronto production department in which the Senior Product Metallurgist operates. This job is a career progression step from a Product Metallurgist or an entry position for candidates with significant and relevant metals processing experience.</p> <p>Principal Responsibilities:</p> <p>Ensuring that product has been produced in accordance with the defined metallurgical processes of the applicable Toronto production department, including:</p> <ul> <li>Ensuring that the product meets the customer requirements. </li><li>Ensuring that the customer approval and fixed practice requirements have been followed. </li><li>Controlling product produced under DOE's and MPE's. </li><li>Arranging for re-testing, rework and deviation of non-conforming product. </li><li>Working with the Operations and Planning group to facilitate material movement through the department. </li><li>Working with the OSC to ensure product has been processed in accordance with subcontractor approvals and agreed process routes. </li><li>Assisting the Principal Metallurgist with the introduction of new products or processes into standard production and write detailed technical reports. </li></ul> <p>Compile data to help define product process capability and liaise with tech edit to ensure that the contract review process results in acknowledgement of orders that have proven capability.</p> <ul> <li>Review non-standard orders and consult with Principal Metallurgist on poor process capability orders. </li><li>Review basis specifications and consult with tech edit on capabilities versus requirements. </li><li>Define test requirements. </li><li>Maintain FTP databases and highlight most frequent causes of non-conformance. </li><li>Develop corrective actions or improvement projects aimed at non-conformance reduction. </li></ul> <p>Manage the customer relationships</p> <ul> <li>Review specification technical requirements. </li><li>Assist Principal Metallurgist with resolution of customer technical questions/problems </li><li>Investigate and respond to customer complaints of a technical nature. </li><li>Handle customer process qualifications, approvals and metallurgical offers. </li><li>Develop working relationships with counterparts at customers and end users. </li><li>Assist with customer visits and audits and prepare responses to resultant actions. </li></ul> <p>Provide technical guidance within the department:</p> <ul> <li>Communicate with production personnel on metallurgical and quality assurance requirements. </li><li>Provide guidance and training to the department Product Metallurgist. </li><li>Liaise with peers in research, sales and applications development team(s) on new product/process development. </li><li>Provide technical contribution to achievement of company and plant goals and objectives. </li></ul> <p>Additional Responsibilities</p> <p>Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:</p> <p>Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint</p> <p>Working knowledge of titanium metallurgy, and metal working operations</p> <p>Working knowledge of aerospace and industrial material and quality specifications</p> <p>Awareness of laboratory and nondestructive testing methods</p> <p>Ability to</p>
