<p>Nature of Work</p> <p>Special Hiring Rate: $36,533</p> <p>The Facility Equipment Maintenance Technician performs an important support role within the Northern Regional Jail & Correctional Center's maintenance department. This non-uniformed employee will be responsible for the operations of the area of assignment, as well as supervising the inmates assigned there. They would be responsible for following WVDCR policies, operational procedures, post orders, and all applicable federal and state laws, rules, and regulations. This employee will be responsible for the acquisitions and inventory control of all materials, supplies, and equipment necessary for the operating of the designated areas and perform related work as necessary.</p> <p>To assist in the maintenance of all facility areas such as the lift station, generators, grounds equipment and maintain the uninterrupted service of all utilities such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, sewage, all building structures. The employee will be responsible to maintain a preventative maintenance program check, approve and assign work orders, construction priorities, and establish priorities. To organize and direct the work of skilled and semi-skilled trade-workers performing facilities maintenance and repair.</p> <p>The non-uniformed employee would be responsible for a working knowledge of all or most of the following: including but not limited to carpentry, masonry, lawn equipment, dump trucks, forklifts, backhoes, welding, reading blueprints, safe operations of power tools and heavy equipment, painting, electrical, plumbing, roofing, and other maintenance skills. To receive an email notice anytime jobs in this or other categories are posted, you may choose to complete aJob Interest Cardfrom the slide-out menu located at the top left of ourJob Opportunitiespage.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Training: Graduation from a standard four-year high school or GED or four year apprenticeship program or two year post secondary technical school.</p> <p>Substitution: Experience in air-conditioning, heating or refrigeration may be substituted for the required training on a year-for-year basis.</p> <p>Experience: Four years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in heating, cooling, ventilation or the mechanical or building trades such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, plasterer, painter, welder, machinist, mechanic or masonry work.</p> <ul> <li>The Division of Personnel uses your complete work history to qualify you for positions. Please be as detailed as possible and list all of your past employment.* </li></ul> <p>Other Information</p> <p>Special Hiring Rate: $36,533</p> <ul> <li>In accordance with SPB 3088 effective 10/7/23, $5000 will be added to the minimum starting rate of pay for all classifications within a Critical Vacancy Pay Supplemental Facility. Critical Vacancy Pay Facilities: Huttonsville Correctional Center and Jail, Mount Olive Correctional Complex and Jail, Western Regional Jail and Corrections Facility, Northern Correctional Facility (including Ohio County Correctional Center), Northern Regional Jail and Correctional Facility, Chick Buckbee Juvenile Center, Vicki Douglas Juvenile Center, Potomac Highlands Regional Jail and Correctional Facility, and Eastern Regional Jail and Corrections Facility (including Martinsburg Correctional Center) (SPB 3088). </li><li>Employees in this classification shall receive an annual base building pay differential each fiscal year of $250 after completing one year of service. </li><li>If an employee is hired into a Critical Vacancy Pay Facility (CVPF) and leaves the facility, the additional pay differential of $5,000 shall be removed from their salary, unless transferring to another CVPF. </li></ul>
