Assists classroom teachers in providing literacy and research enrichment to students.</p> <p>Must complete DCSD required training for new library staff.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:</p> <ul> <li>Mostly clean and comfortable; some noise </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to bend and lift up to 40 lbs </li><li>Frequent sitting & standing </li></ul> <p>Position Specific Information (if Applicable):</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <p>Duties include instruction, supervision, management, and programming in the Library Media Center</p> <p>Organize and reshelve returned items</p> <p>Manage materials using our library management software (Destiny)</p> <p>Attend District trainings pertaining to the library: Destiny, databases and digital resources, collection development, weeding, purchasing, etc.</p> <p>Follow the DCSD media policy and board policies pertaining to the library</p> <p>Manage loans between DCSD school libraries (ILL loans)</p> <p>Assist classroom teachers in maintaining supportive learning environments in the LMC in accordance with information literacy/research standards and DCSD's priority learning outcomes</p> <p>Assist students and staff when using print and/or DCSD digital resources</p> <p>Support DCSD curriculum and reading advocacy; supervise students in the library in conjunction with a licensed teacher</p> <p>Perform routine tasks such as answering phone calls, maintain a clean and organized library environment, and other necessary tasks</p> <p>Help plan and participate in special library events (district-wide events and school specific events)</p> <p>Perform necessary record-keeping for all library resources, including a full inventory of all resources no less than every two years</p> <p>Schedule and support activities for the library program which may include author days, reading promotions and incentives, and school-wide literacy activities</p> <p>Manage training, scheduling, and supervising of student assistants/aides and community volunteers in the LMC</p> <p>Loan library materials such as books, textbooks, and other resources to students, staff, and other DCSD school patrons</p> <p>Perform other library related duties as assigned or requested</p> <p>Process returned materials such as books, textbooks, and other resources</p> <p>Maintain and repair library materials</p> <p>Certifications:</p> <p>Education:</p> <p>High School or Equivalent (Required)</p> <p>Skills:</p> <p>Ability to use Google Suite and Microsoft Office programs, Attention to detail, Basic library management knowledge preferred (Destiny and Dewey Decimal System), Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to support positive outcomes, Effective oral and written communication skills, Enjoys reading and willing to read, Maintains a generally positive attitude, Must feel comfortable reading aloud to students, Observes all District policies and procedures, Strong customer service skills, Strong organizational and time management skills, Verbal and written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions</p> <p>Position Type:</p> <p>Regular</p> <p>Primary Location:</p> <p>Pioneer Elementary</p> <p>One Year Only (Yes or No):</p> <p>No</p> <p>Scheduled Hours Per Week:</p> <p>25</p> <p>FTE:</p> <p>0.63</p> <p>Approx Scheduled Days Per Year:</p> <p>176 Work Days</p> <ul> <li>(260 days indicates a year-round position.
