<p>The Director of Fire & Emergency Management Training will direct the efforts of the Fire & Emergency Management Training programs in a dynamic academic environment that requires accuracy, efficiency, effectiveness, the ability to work independently, and strong written and oral communication skills. The Director of Fire & Emergency Management Training must be detail-oriented and will be expected to provide exemplary customer service to students, the public, the community, and colleagues on a daily basis. The position also requires one to maintain flexibility and willingness to change, open-mindedness, fairness, and the ability to see multiple perspectives, and accept responsibility for professional and personal growth.</p> <ul> <li>Manage the development, maintenance, and administration of a comprehensive Fire & Emergency Management Training Program. </li><li>Coordinate the integration of the instructional components of the Fire & Emergency Management Training Program including the selection and evaluation of instructional staff, preparation of staff assignments, curriculum development, class schedules, and program development and monitoring. </li><li>Coordinate all support activities, including facilities, equipment, registration, and management and supervision of students and student records. </li><li>Develop, implement, direct, and evaluate activities related to student recruitment, admissions, assessment, advisement, and retention. </li><li>Provide course instruction when required. </li><li>Complete required class visitations and evaluations. </li><li>Maintain standards for compliance with OSFM, NC Community College System, and Pitt Community College. </li><li>Consult with state and local agencies in developing and administering training programs through the establishment of an advisory committee; interview representatives from such agencies to ensure that program objectives are aligned with training needs. </li><li>Direct and implement the development and management of the Fire & EM program budget; supervise the preparation of budgets and, upon approval, assume overall responsibility for timely and accurate implementation. </li><li>Prepare financial reports, presentations, brochures, and other documents pertaining to the Fire & EM program. </li><li>Research, identify, and evaluate grant opportunities in relation to the goals and objectives of the Fire & EM program. </li><li>Serve on college committees, as assigned. </li><li>Perform related duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Our Values:</p> <p>At Pitt Community College, our culture is built on excellence, collaboration, innovation, accountability and a student-centered focus. Administrative duties are completed in a standard office setting using computers and instructional technology, while other responsibilities involve site visits, program evaluations, instructor supervision, and participation in advisory committees.</p> <p>Physical Demands: The physical demands below represent the requirements needed to successfully perform the role:</p> <ul> <li>Regular standing, walking, and movement across classrooms, offices, training sites, and outdoor environments. </li><li>Occasional participation in or observation of fire, rescue, and emergency management training activities, which may involve exposure to heat, smoke (in controlled settings), physical exertion, or training equipment. </li><li>Ability to lift, carry, and move instructional equipment, training materials, and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds. </li><li>Occasional bending, climbing steps or ladders, kneeling, or positioning oneself in confined or uneven training environments. </li><li>Sufficient visual and auditory ability to observe training scenarios, evaluate instruction, communicate safety expectations, and conduct class visitations. </li><li>Ability to sit for extended periods during administrative work, meetings, planning sessions, and documentation tasks. </li></ul> <p>Normal Working Hours: Standard schedule, Monday - Friday; due to training frequently occurring outside regular business hours, flexibility for occasional evenings, weekends, and early-morning sessions to support classes, live-burn activities, testing, community trainings, and instructor evaluations is required. Local travel to fire departments, emergency management agencies, partner training sites, and community locations is required. Seasonal peak periods may require extended hours to accommodate program demands, regulatory deadlines, and schedule coordination.</p>
