<p>PSch Executive Director of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving</p> <p>POSITION DETAILS</p> <p>The CUNY School of Medicine (CUNY SoM) located in the heart of Harlem, New York, is the only medical school in the City University of New York system and the only public medical school in Manhattan. Building upon 50 years of success as the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, the institution transitioned to the CUNY School of Medicine (SoM) in 2016. The CUNY SoM offers an accelerated BS/MD degree (7-year program) and a Physician Assistant Master's Degree (27 months program). True to its legacy of access, opportunity, and community transformation, the medical school's mission remains to recruit highly talented students as diverse as New York City itself. CUNY SoM places a special emphasis on the recruitment of those who are underrepresented in the field of medicine and on training high quality, culturally competent health professionals and scientists equipped to address the healthcare needs of New York's medically under-served communities. As a major priority, CUNY SoM also seeks to enhance the recruitment and retention of senior leadership, faculty, and staff to more closely reflect the diversity of our student body.</p> <p>CUNY SoM is seeking a dynamic development professional to be responsible for the overall leadership, management, and oversight of the SoM's alumni relations and annual fund programs and related operations to drive giving CUNY SoM. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Institutional Advancement, the Executive Director of Alumni Engagement & Annual Giving will build and maintain an organizational infrastructure to enable effective and successful annual giving campaigns and alumni-related operations. This position works with senior leadership, including the Dean and Alumni Board on alumni engagement, fundraising and donor relationship efforts in response to the SoM's goals. The position carries an active portfolio of donors, and engages with them for philanthropy and support of the institution.</p> <p>In addition to the overview above, the Executive Director of Alumni Engagement & Annual Giving will be responsible for but not limited to the following:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Directs and oversees comprehensive engagement strategies for the SoM's alumni, encouraging connections by medical industry, region, and affinity groups; Develop and implement innovative alumni engagement initiatives, from digital platforms and operations to in-person events and virtual programming.</p> </li><li> <p>Build and maintain relationships with key faculty, deans, and department heads for the purpose of involving alumni in the educational mission of the SoM.</p> </li><li> <p>Oversees the planning and execution of the SoM Anniversary Gala and other marquee events attended by over 300 guests to recognize and celebrate alumni contributions; Manages annual reunion, global and domestic alumni and donor events, speaker programs, and other large and small events.</p> </li><li> <p>Serves as a strategic partner on the Institutional Advancement leadership team; Contribute to the development of long-term strategies that support the School's priorities and enhance alumni engagement on a global scale.</p> </li><li> <p>Oversee the planning, strategy, and execution of all annual giving, including direct mail, campaigns, peer-to-peer fundraising, and other initiatives; Oversee and execute the production and dissemination of compelling and engaging communications, including newsletters, e-newsletters, alumni magazines, alumni profiles and other outreach pieces to alumni as necessary.</p> </li><li> <p>Direct the content, style, and data on the alumni website and portal, and work with colleagues to maintain, update and drive engagement towards the above-mentioned resources.</p> </li><li> <p>Partner with Advancement Services colleagues to ensure accurate alumni data in Bloomerang; Develop, monitor and leverage metrics in alumni communications to strengthen engagement.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean or designee.</p> </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.</p> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Master's degree in public relations, business administration, or non-profit management.</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum of 7 -9 years of experience in alumni relations or a related field (Higher Education Administration, Events Management, Program Development) with a demonstrated record of leadership and innovative programming within medical education.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated leadership skills with significant experience managing and leading teams. Ability to work effectively across departments and with a variety of volunteers.</p> </li><li> <p>Previous experience designing, implementing, and managing events and programs, with a particular emphasis on volunteer management and alumni engagement.</p> </li><li> <p>Proven ability to handle a variety of tasks under tight deadline pressures and work in a high-volume, high-demand (also highly collaborative, supportive, team-oriented) office.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent oral and written communication with strong interpersonal abilities to engage and inspire diverse audiences.</p> </li><li> <p>Able to work some evenings and weekends with domestic and international travel. Demonstrated capacity to interact effectively with donors and institutional leaders, with a minimum of five years of experience in proven successful fund-raising activities</p> </li><li> <p>Ability and willingness to travel, and work some weekends and evenings as needed.
