We achieve this by staying focused on providing safe, efficient, and reliable transportation to customers; ensuring the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance throughout our organization, with a goal of zero incidents and zero spills or releases to the environment; maximizing long term value for shareholders and stakeholders; and creating a safe and rewarding work environment for our employees.</p> <p>The 2nd officer has the following overall responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Compliance with the Company's MS requirements related to the </li></ul> <p>position;</p> <ul> <li>Handling and maintenance of the GMDSS; </li><li>Attend the safekeeping of a navigation watch at sea as delegated </li></ul> <p>by the Master;</p> <ul> <li>Monitor all Notice(s) to Mariners, and inform the Master if </li></ul> <p>Notice(s) to Mariners are not received as scheduled;</p> <ul> <li>Ensure all charts for the current voyage are corrected up to the </li></ul> <p>latest Notice(s) to Mariner's and Navigation warnings;</p> <ul> <li>Consult with the Master and prepare passage plans before </li></ul> <p>sailing;</p> <ul> <li>Ensure all charts are correctly filed in the appropriate folio, </li></ul> <p>and that old charts are suitably disposed of, and not stored on the bridge;</p> <ul> <li>Ensure that all relevant nautical publications are kept up to </li></ul> <p>date, and corrected;</p> <ul> <li>Ensure that all navigational instruments including electronic </li></ul> <p>navigational aids, lights and signals are properly maintained, tested and</p> <p>functioning correctly;</p> <p>OSG is an equal opportunity at will employer and does not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of age, race, religion, color, disability, sex, sexual orientation or national origin.</p> <p>Twitter</p> <p>Linkedin</p> <p>FacebookGoogle+Pinterestemail</p> <p>Your browser failed to load the job description PDF in iframe.
