<p>The Wall Street Journal is seeking an audience strategist to lead the growth and engagement of our audio and video journalism. This is a senior role that has a broad scope and the pace of a global newsroom. As part of the broader content strategy team, you will act as a key partner to our editorial leaders, translating data into insights to ensure our audio and video offerings resonate with our listeners and viewers and are aligned with the overall digital experience. The ideal candidate will be a vital voice in the editorial process, helping to shape audio/video storytelling and strategies to maximize audience impact. This role demands a unique blend of analytical rigor, creative thinking and strategic communication. You should be excited to work in a high-metabolism environment, ready to respond to major news events, and able to operate at a high level while balancing long-term projects with the day-to-day.</p> <p>Our work has been recognized with Emmy-winning videos, and we've expanded our reach with successful new podcast launches, including our marquee show, "The Journal," which has become a cornerstone of our offerings.</p> <p>This role is based in New York and will report to the Director of Content Strategy.</p> <p>You will:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Develop and execute a data-informed audience strategy for our audio and video journalism on-and-off platform. This includes delivering insights on content trends, listener/viewer habits, and opportunities for new formats.</p> </li><li> <p>Be responsible for interpreting data from various platforms, creating clear and actionable insights, building compelling narratives around audience behavior, and presenting recommendations regularly to editorial leadership and the broader newsroom.</p> </li><li> <p>Work closely with podcast and video producers, hosts, editors, and reporters to guide development of shows, series and episodes.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure that audio and video is aligned with the broader newsroom strategy and well integrated in our overall digital experience.</p> </li><li> <p>Drive a culture of audience-first experimentation. Identify and test new formats, distribution strategies and technologies to stay on top of industry trends and changing audience behavior and needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Serve as the newsroom's expert on audience best practices, leading training sessions for engagement in audio and video formats.</p> </li></ul> <p>You have:</p> <ul> <li> <p>At least 7 years of experience in a digital media environment, with a significant focus on content strategy for audio and/or video.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong analytical skills, including the ability to find insights from data; create an easy-to-understand narrative; and deliver a plan to address the findings. Experience with data analysis and reporting tools is a must.</p> </li><li> <p>Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
