The program is based on research-based approaches to teaching and behavior intervention such as Applied Behavior Analysis. Skills are broken down, repeated often and performance is reinforced to maximize the acquisition of skills for students. The Special Education Teacher in this role will play a crucial role in facilitating the successful transition of students from the Elementary Intensive Program (EIP) to increased inclusion in the regular education environment. This position focuses on developing and implementing individualized plans, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and providing instruction and support to students as they progress towards greater independence in the regular education environment. The primary goal is to ensure students achieve their full potential in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE). Consultation is provided to the program by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).</p> <p>South Windsor is a diverse community of approximately 27,000 citizens and more than 5,000 public school students.
