Overview Responsible for the clinical and operational workflow of Surgical ICU, including direct patient care when necessary, ensuring that evidence-based standards of practice are maintained; participates in developing and implementing advanced practice initiatives in coordination with nursing leadership. Responsibilities 1.<em> Assesses patients biopsychosocial needs in an age-appropriate manner and with a knowledge of patient growth and development. 2.</em> Develops plan of care and communicates to other members of the health care team. 3.<em> Administers and delivers the plan of care, utilizing patient care standards in clinical practice. 4.</em> Evaluates outcomes and modifies the plan of care as necessary. 5.<em> Educates patient and family on plan of care and their responsibilities, including post-discharge. 6.</em> Collaborates with all members of the health care team. 7.<em> Provides clinical supervision to appropriate health care team members, delegating tasks and overseeing performance of duties. 8.</em> Documents all information applicable to patient care in patient/departmental record. 9.* Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Qualifications Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing school required; BSN preferred. Current NYS licensure as RN required.
