<p>Contract Length: 261 Days</p> <p>Salary: Based on experience and education level per Mingo County Schools Supplemental Salary and Extended Contract Schedule.</p> <p>Supervisior: Superintendent</p> <p>Job Description :</p> <p>Supervision: The high school principal is responsible for:</p> <ul> <li>The promotion of research studies to improve instructional and curricular procedures with approval of the Superintendent and with the aid of consultants from the County Office. </li><li>Conducting an organized plan of classroom visitation for the purpose of evaluation and the improvement of the instructional program. </li><li>Assisting with the compilation, organization and interpretation of data related to the educational program. </li><li>Promoting proper conduct and discipline of pupils. </li><li>The classification, promotion and retention of pupils. </li><li>Developing an effective in-service program. </li><li>The supervision of all activities, curricular and extra-curricular and athletics. </li><li>Conferring with teachers on problems and/or situations that confront them in their daily work. </li><li>The supervision of non-teaching personnel assigned to his building. </li><li>Provide strong instructional leadership and foster a safe, supportive and academically rigorous learning environment </li><li>The successful candidate will be a visionary leader who can guide staff, support student achievement, and work effectively with families and the broader community </li><li>Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of curriculum and instructional programs </li><li>Use data to monitor student progress, guide instructional planning and support targeted interventions </li><li>Foster a culture of high expectations, academic excellence, and continuous professional growth </li><li>Oversee daily school operations, including scheduling, discipline, safety procedures and school climate initiatives. </li><li>Ensure compliance with WVDE policies, state code and local board requirements. </li><li>Attend professional development, planning and training meetings as required by Superintendent </li><li>In collaboration with assistant principal and others as designated, supervise and evaluate all professional, service and athletic employees at Tug Valley High School </li><li>Develop and implement school level policies , procedures and strategic palnning in support of West Virginia and Ming County Board of Education policies </li><li>Provide guidance and support to administrators at feeder schools , and develop opportunities for collaboration between faculty members at the school and its feeders </li><li>Develop and implement programs to engage students, parents, and other stakeholders in school activities, including but not limited to academic events, athletic events, campus improvement projects and community outreach. </li><li>Other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Guidance and Counseling: The high school principal is responsible to supervise the following:</p> <ul> <li>The initiation and maintenance of proper and adequate pupil records. </li><li>Holding conferences with individual pupils, groups of pupils, parents, teachers, and other personnel as needed. </li><li>Initiating studies of and seeking solutions for unusual behavior and attendance patterns. </li><li>Providing leadership for parent-teacher conferences. </li><li>Conducting the testing program. </li></ul> <p>Public Relations: The high school principal is responsible for:</p> <ul> <li>Interpreting the school to the community. </li><li>Acting as a liaison agent between the school and parental organizations. </li><li>Coordinating the use of school facilities by community groups. </li><li>Coordination the overall school district calendar with the Superintendent. </li><li>Encouraging utilization of community resources and personnel by the teachers. </li><li>Disseminate school information to the community. </li><li>Keeping the community informed through participation in community activities and affiliated school organizations. </li></ul> <p>Clerical: The high school principal is responsible for:</p> <ul> <li>Compiling attendance records and other reports as required. </li><li>Preparing inventories as requires. </li><li>Maintaining an accurate record of the training and experience of all teachers under his supervision. </li><li>The duties and supervision of the school secretary. </li><li>Adopting and maintaining effective bookkeeping procedures for all school accounts. </li><li>Requisitioning, storage, accounting, and distribution of all books and educational supplies. </li></ul> <p>School Plant Operation and Maintenance: The high school principal is responsible for:</p> <ul> <li>Promoting the proper care of the buildings and grounds. </li><li>Encouraging the custodians to take a pride in the appearance and upkeep of the building. </li><li>Referring matters of major importance concerning the plant to the Maintenance and Custodial Supervisor. </li><li>Referring minor matters of repair and maintenance to the custodian. </li></ul> <p>Professional Relationships: The high school principal is responsible for:</p> <ul> <li>The direction of professional in-service training. </li><li>Encouraging his staff to participate in professional organizations. </li><li>Working with county staff (records, workers). </li><li>Self-improvement, i.e., joining appropriate professional, organizations and attending professional in-service meetings for professional growth, etc. </li><li>Encouraging a professional attitude on the part of the faculty. </li><li>Encouraging the development and growth of a professional library. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>West Virginia Professional Administrative Certificate endorse for Principal 9-12 </li><li>Demonstrated success in administration at the school and/or district level strontly preferred </li><li>Demonstrated success as a principal in a high school configuration is strongly preferred </li><li>Background check required </li></ul> <p>Expected Start Date : As soon as possible</p>
