<p>Description</p> <p>The Social Work Intern will work closely with the Development Team and assist with a wide range of projects. Interns will gain substantial hands-on experience and specific training in many aspects of nonprofit development and marketing. This includes managing daily communication and operations, stewarding donors, and building relationships in the community by representing the Foodbank through internal and external activities. These partnerships may include evening and weekend work.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>The statements contained herein describe the scope of the responsibility and essential functions of this position but should not be considered to be an all-inclusive listing of work requirements. Individuals may perform other duties as assigned including work in other areas to cover absences or to equalize peak work periods or otherwise balance the workload. Individuals in this position may occasionally work irregular hours as necessary.</p> <p>The Social Work Intern will be comfortable learning new technology, as well as an eagerness to utilize Arkansas Foodbank software systems. They will possess strong interpersonal skills, a spirit of collaboration and teamwork, and a commitment to hunger relief.</p> <ul> <li>Assist with special events like the Summer Cereal Drive, Restaurant Weeks, Telethon, and Empty Bowls. This includes working with donors, media, and staff onsite at events and helping with administrative and logistical support before and after the event. </li><li>Help with the recruitment of participants and/or volunteers for Foodbank events. </li><li>Support the Volunteer Coordinator in daily volunteer orientations and shifts. </li><li>Drafting content for the Arkansas Foodbank website, blogs, social media pages, etc. </li><li>Facilitating organizational needs through the marketing and communications ticketing system in conjunction with the MarComm team. </li><li>Exemplify Arkansas Foodbank values and mission during community projects and at public, social, and business gatherings. </li><li>Attend required agency and department meetings, training, and conferences. </li><li>Available to work flexible schedule during and leading up to events. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively, in oral and written format. </li><li>Excellent speaking and presentation skills. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this class. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift/move up to 30 pounds.
