<p>General Position Summary:</p> <p>Maintain accurate student records. Attend to incoming students, in-person or via phone. Administer orientation. Demonstrate efficiency with data collection and reporting. </p> <p>Help students improve their basic math, reading comprehension, language, and computer skills to achieve high school equivalency and/or industry-based credentials (IBC) to secure entry-level employment or advance in their current occupation. Develop, deliver, revise, and teach academic instruction up to the college level, focusing on College and Career Readiness. Demonstrate student focus, with a passion for serving adults in attaining basic skills, digital skills, English proficiency, high </p> <p>school equivalency credentials, and encouraging the continuing pursuit of education and/or training.</p> <p>Supervisor: Director of Adult Education</p> <p>Physical Demands: Lift up to 25 lbs.</p> <p>Work Environment: Frequent interaction with staff, students, and the public; Walking, sitting, standing, stooping, and bending </p> <p>Starting Pay: $25 per hour; 7 hours per week</p> <p>Location: Ascension Parish Jail </p> <p>Schedule: Mondays and Thursdays, 4:30 pm to 8 pm, or as needed outside this schedule for special </p> <p>events, meetings, or to meet student needs</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited educational institution </li><li>Two years of teaching experience </li><li>Satisfactory background check </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited educational institution with a concentration in </li></ul> <p>Education </p> <ul> <li>Two years of teaching experience with adult learners over the age of 18 </li></ul> <p>Minimum Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Dependable - punctual </li><li>Strong organizational skills </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills </li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality </li><li>Ability to prioritize tasks - good time-management skills </li><li>Ability to work effectively with peers, administrators, and others </li><li>Demonstrate basic skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) </li></ul> <p>Preferred Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrate proficiency in Canvas </li><li>Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Oversee all aspects of Orientation, i.e., oral presentation, TABE administration, etc. </li><li>Organizing student records for accuracy and completeness </li><li>Submit weekly attendance and score reports to the Assistant Director </li><li>Monitor minor student attendance to ensure minimum attendance is completed </li><li>Assist current and potential students upon visiting or calling the campus </li><li>Serve on Adult Education and RPCC committees as requested by the Director or RPCC </li></ul> <p>Leadership</p> <ul> <li>Maintain accurate student records and data, i.e., forms, attendance, etc. </li><li>Attends staff development programs, curriculum development meetings, and other professional </li></ul> <p>activities</p> <ul> <li>Utilize and provide direct instruction through innovative, effective, and equitable teaching </li></ul> <p>techniques </p> <ul> <li>Participates in developing, revising, and monitoring the implementation of the curriculum </li></ul> <p>Provide classroom instruction, feedback, and direct student learning using available technology </p> <ul> <li>Guide students through assessments and create an individualized career plan </li><li>Completes reports, collects data, and provides information for program monitoring as requested </li><li>Meet all deadlines </li><li>Keeps abreast of developments, research, and new technology. </li><li>Participate in campus activities and recruitment </li><li>Demonstrate a solid commitment to the River Parishes Community College Mission </li><li>Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of Adult Education </li></ul> <p>(These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed.
