<p>Posting Number P2255 Job Title Adjunct Faculty - History Students Only No Job Description Summary</p> <p>EXPECTATIONS AND NATURE OF THE POSITION</p> <p>Western Wyoming Community College (Western) invites applications for an adjunct/concurrent instructor in History. Adjuncts in this position will teach no more than 9 credits per Fall/Spring semesters and no more than 6 credits per Summer semester. Concurrent instructors in this position will teach classes in Mountain View High School in Mountain View, Wyoming via the institution's learning management system. Responsibilities will include supporting Western's Guiding Principles: Learning is Our Purpose, Students are Our Focus, Employees are Our Most Important Resources, The Community is our Partner, Adapting to Change Defines Our Future, and Ethical Standards Guide Our Actions; and upholding the mission of a comprehensive 2-year community college.</p> <p>Successful candidates will teach courses in history as needed/assigned; teach in a variety of environments and modes (team-taught offerings, day offerings, evening offerings, online offerings, hybrid offerings, etc.); assess students in light of the institution goals, program goals, and course objectives; maintain appropriate scheduled office hours; develop good working relationships with discipline-related professionals in the College's Service area; and be active in one's field of expertise.</p> <p>It is expected that this individual will accomplish assigned duties in an efficient, effective and competent manner, and strive for improvement and excellence in all work performed. Additionally, this individual must understand the comprehensive role of the community college and cooperate and work harmoniously with college personnel and the public. This individual must follow all college policies, rules, regulations and guidelines as they relate to this position.</p> <p>PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR WHICH THIS INDIVIDUAL IS ACCOUNTABLE</p> <ul> <li>Provides quality instruction to students in assigned history courses, such as American History, World History, and Wyoming History. </li><li>Provides quality learning experiences for all students in accordance with their needs and abilities while maintaining the basic integrity of the course's standards and objectives. </li><li>States clear objectives and criteria in each course syllabus; follows the Curriculum Committee's guidelines regarding course syllabi; integrates appropriate Western Wyoming Community College Goals for Student Success into each course; evaluates students' performance in light of these objectives and criteria. </li><li>Teaches courses in a variety of environments and modes as required, including face-to-face, hybrid and/or online. Courses may be offered in the fall, spring or summer semesters and on varying schedules (i.e., 8- or 16-weeks), and may meet online. </li><li>Designs and implements effective learning processes for students; provides feedback on student improvement in attaining the College's Learning Goals. </li><li>Learns to communicate clearly and effectively using the college network system, including the e-mail and calendar system, MyWestern, Canvas, and word processing; integrates learning with technology into the classroom as appropriate. </li><li>Refers students to the resources in the College Learning Center, Peer Tutor Center, Net Tutor, Library, Mustang Success, and Wellness and Accessibility. </li><li>Submits syllabi, student evaluations, grades, and other required information in a timely manner. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Abilities,</p> <ol> <li> <p>Master's Degree in History or Master's Degree in a related field, with 18 credits in History from an accredited institution Coursework must be related to type of course being taught.</p> </li><li> <p>Earned letter grade of "B" or higher in graduate courses relevant for position.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated proficiency in college-level teaching for at minimum 2 years (or the equivalency of 2 years full-time); teaching experience as a teaching assistant or adjunct instructor may count toward the requirement.</p> </li><li> <p>Effective oral and written communication skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability to interact and collaborate effectively with a diversity of colleagues and students.</p> </li></ol> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>PREFERRED ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Abilities, Education and Experience)</p> <ul> <li>PhD in History or PhD in related field with 18 credits in history from an accredited institution. </li><li>Ability to collaborate with and complement faculty in the department, school, and college. </li></ul> <p>Equivalency Statement</p> <p>For those who do not exactly meet all the minimum qualifications, an equivalent combination of education and experience, which has provided comparable knowledge and abilities, may be acceptable.</p> <p>Open Date 11/13/2025 Close Date Open Until Filled Yes Special Instructions to Applicants</p> <p>Unofficial transcripts are accepted for application purposes.
