<p>The Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District is committed to providing each student with a high quality, relevant education that promotes academic success, well-being, and responsible citizens. We are seeking a qualified candidate to join our team and to realize that mission.</p> <p>Position Objective: The Long Term Sub (LTS) School Adjustment Counselor will provide specialized counseling and support services to address the social-emotional, behavioral, and academic needs of students in alignment with the MA Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs. This position exists to foster student well-being, resilience, and success by delivering direct counseling, crisis intervention, preventative programs, and responsive services. The Adjustment Counselor will collaborate with families, educators, and community partners to create a safe, structured, and inclusive school environment where every student can thrive, while upholding district policies, and professional standards.</p> <p>Responsibilities: Provide individual and group counseling to support students' social-emotional, behavioral, and academic development Deliver preventative and responsive programs that address mental health, behavior management, conflict resolution, and social skills Collaborate with teachers, administrators, guidance counselors, school psychologists, and families to support students with diverse needs Manage a caseload of students requiring targeted social-emotional or behavioral support Participate in the development, implementation, and monitoring of behavior intervention plans (BIPs), Health and Wellness Plans, Safety Plans, and individualized support strategies Facilitate crisis intervention and provide immediate support for students experiencing behavioral or emotional difficulties Use innovative counseling approaches, instructional strategies, and technology to enhance student engagement and confidence.</p> <p>Promote high expectations for student achievement, self-regulation, and emotional growth. Advocate for programming and practices that ensure all students-including those with special needs or ELLs-have access to support and learning opportunities. Maintain accurate records of counseling services, interventions, and student progress while complying with all confidentiality and privacy regulations Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, including IEP and 504 meetings, to support students' academic and behavioral success Provide professional consultation and guidance to staff regarding student behavior, social-emotional issues, and best practices in intervention strategies. Perform other duties as assigned by school or district administration.</p> <p>Required Qualifications: Massachusetts DESE licensure as an Adjustment Counselor Bachelor's Degree Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications: Experience providing social-emotional and behavioral support in a school setting Knowledge of the Massachusetts Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs and best practices in school-based mental health Experience developing and implementing behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and social-emotional support plans Familiarity with 504 plans, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and strategies for supporting students with disabilities or English as a Second Language Strong skills in crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and restorative practices Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, teachers, administrators, and community partners Knowledge of social-emotional learning (SEL) frameworks, mental health supports, and trauma-informed practices Proficiency in using data and counseling technology tools to track student progress and interventions Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Commitment to fostering equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices in a school environment Dedication to professional growth and staying current with research-based practices in school counseling and student support</p> <p>Salary & Terms of Employment: In accordance with the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School Collective Bargaining Agreement. Employment is contingent upon job performance, program needs, and funding.
