<p>The Procedural Faculty in Family Medicine is responsible for providing high-quality clinical care while teaching and supervising family medicine residents and medical students, with a focus on office-based procedures and Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS). This role includes direct patient care, procedural instruction, curriculum development, and mentorship to ensure learners develop procedural competency and adhere to evidence-based clinical practices. The procedural faculty plays a key role in advancing medical education, promoting patient safety, and supporting the mission of the residency training program.</p> <p>Teaching Office-Based Procedures:</p> <ul> <li>Instruct family medicine residents and medical students in performing office-based procedures relevant to primary care. </li><li>Demonstrate and ensure adherence to best practices and evidence-based techniques. </li></ul> <p>Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) Training:</p> <ul> <li>Supervise and teach the use of POCUS for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the primary care setting. </li><li>Develop and deliver training sessions to enhance proficiency in relevant ultrasound applications. </li></ul> <p>Mentorship and Supervision:</p> <ul> <li>Provide hands-on supervision to residents and students during clinical procedures. </li><li>Offer constructive feedback and guidance to foster professional growth and skill development. </li></ul> <p>Curriculum Development:</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with faculty to design and update curricula for procedural and ultrasound training in family medicine. </li><li>Ensure educational content aligns with current guidelines and advances in primary care. </li></ul> <p>Quality and Safety:</p> <ul> <li>Promote a culture of patient safety and quality improvement in procedural care. </li><li>Model and instill professional and ethical standards in clinical practice. </li></ul> <p>St. Joseph's Health is recognized for the expertise and compassion of its highly skilled and responsive staff.
