<p>JOB SUMMARY:</p> <p>The Water Resource Engineers play a vital role in the implementation of the county's Stormwater Management Ordinance and the development of the water resources programs. Engineers will utilize their expertise to process applications, inspect and interpret violations and enforce action and educate property owners on the Stormwater Management.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Review permit and subdivision applications for compliance with regulations. </li><li>Deliver professional education and courteous customer service. </li><li>Maintain accurate permit records and assist with inquiries. </li><li>Provide technical expertise related to drainage and stormwater issues. </li><li>Inspect construction sites for compliance with regulations. </li><li>Coordinate with other agencies for permit approvals. </li><li>Document and verify stormwater ordinance violations. </li><li>Contributing to special projects (e.g., flood insurance programs, sensible salting workshops). </li><li>Attend relevant committee and division meetings. </li><li>Supervise junior engineers and approving work. </li><li>Demonstrate unwavering adherence to organizational values, Integrity, Respect, & Accountability. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:</p> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field; and, </li><li>Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job. </li></ul> <p>Level I: 0-2 years of progressively responsibility or related experience</p> <p>Level II: 2-4 years of progressively responsibility or related experience</p> <p>Leve III: 5+ years of progressively responsibility or related experience</p> <p>Licenses and Certifications:</p> <ul> <li>Engineer in Training (EIT) with ability to obtain PE Licenses within 1 year of employment. </li><li>Certified Floodplain Manager or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment. </li><li>Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control or similar credentials preferred. </li><li>Unrestricted Automobile Driver's License. </li></ul> <p>BENEFITS:</p> <ul> <li>3 Medical plans, 2 dental plans, and 2 vision plans to choose from. </li><li>Pension: Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) </li><li>Nationwide Retirement Solutions (457 and Roth457) plans </li><li>Standard Life insurance policy with the option to buy up additional coverage for EE and dependents. </li><li>Tuition Reimbursement and Student Loan Repayment Programs </li><li>Paid vacation, sick, personal days and 13 paid holidays. </li></ul> <p>Must be able to successfully pass a background screening.</p> <p>McHenry County is an equal opportunity employer.
