<p>Our Claims Data Science team is currently seeking a Senior Azure Platform Engineer to join our growing team in a hybrid or remote work arrangement.</p> <p>This is a full time, exempt role.</p> <p>POSITION OVERVIEW:</p> <p>The Sr. Platform Engineer will lead the development, implementation, and optimization of technical solutions for one of the Hanover's lines of business or functions.</p> <p>This role will be responsible for building technology capabilities using predefined configurations, while incorporating emerging technologies and innovative solutions. This role requires the ability to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver technical solutions in both cloud and on-premises environments, along with a strong ability to mentor and guide teams in adopting technologies and best practices.</p> <p>IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:</p> <ul> <li>Oversee the implementation and integration of cloud-based applications and hands-on technical delivery of new services and capabilities </li><li>Adhere to governance standards that ensure security, proper controls, and end-to-end automation of deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure management in the cloud environment. </li><li>Understand Infrastructure as Code scripts and pipelines to aid in the journey to automate deployment of resources. </li><li>Collaborate with Architecture, Application, and Operations teams to ensure alignment with enterprise technology roadmaps and lifecycle management. </li><li>Provide troubleshooting subject matter expertise during projects, initiatives, and incidents. </li><li>Identify technological risks and recommend solutions, proactively seeking out unknown vulnerabilities and escalating when necessary. </li><li>Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies and cost-effective solutions to meet business needs and improve operational efficiency. </li><li>Partner with architects, technology, and business stakeholders to implement capabilities and patterns for security, data, and operations in the cloud. </li><li>Analyze industry trends, market shifts, and internal deficiencies to recommend strategic improvements. </li><li>Support and manage strategic vendor and partner relationships to ensure service quality and innovation. </li><li>Lead or contribute to domain-specific projects, including DevOps initiatives, automation rollouts, and cloud modernization efforts. </li></ul> <p>WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent certifications). </li><li>Minimum 5+ years in an information technology function, or technology team, with a focus on deployment and migration of applications and services into the cloud. </li><li>Proven leadership in managing offshore teams, managed services, vendor relationships, and cross-functional collaboration. </li><li>Promotes a culture of accountability, empowerment, and continuous coaching. </li><li>Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build executive-level relationships and influence stakeholders. </li><li>Strategic mindset with the ability to analyze trends, identify opportunities, and align technology with business goals. </li><li>Advanced analytical and diagnostic skills to resolve complex, cross-domain issues. </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of translating complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences. </li><li>Ability to work in a highly collaborative and highly matrixed, fast-paced, entrepreneurial, transparent, and flexible work environment. </li><li>Strong organizational and planning abilities with a focus on both short-term execution and long-term vision. </li><li>Must be eligible to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future (ie. US citizen or green card holder) </li></ul> <p>TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:</p> <ul> <li>Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, including Azure Fabric, Data Lake Storage, SQL Database, Azure DevOps, Azure Web Apps, Azure App Service, and Azure Synapse. </li><li>Strong understanding of Azure Core Platform: Compute, Storage, Networking, and Disaster Recovery. </li><li>Experience with Azure Pricing, Savings Plans, and cost optimization strategies. </li><li>Proficient in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Platform as Code (PaC), Security as Code (SaC), and CI/CD pipelines. Knowledgeable of associated frameworks and practices. </li><li>Skilled in automated provisioning of environments (Dev/Test/Prod) and cloud-native monitoring tools (e.g., Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Azure Site Recovery). </li><li>Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes). </li><li>Strong knowledge of cloud security, data governance, and compliance in cloud environments. </li><li>Proficient in Azure Active Directory (AAD)/Entra ID for identity and access management. </li><li>Skilled in PowerShell, Azure CLI, and scripting for automation and deployment. </li><li>Experience designing and deploying high availability systems using Azure fault domains, availability zones, and regions. </li></ul>
