<p>Program Director (Clinical Professor) - Genetic Counseling, Division of the Provost</p> <p>FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT</p> <p>Hunter College invites applications for the founding Program Director of its new Master's Program in Genetic Counseling. This leader will guide the program's development and launch, oversee accreditation with the Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling (ACGC), and ensure the program prepares graduates to serve New York's diverse communities.</p> <p>The selected candidate will be expected to:</p> <ul> <li>Provide leadership and oversight for program development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation. </li><li>Ensure compliance with all ACGC accreditation standards, including curriculum design, program assessment, and student outcomes. </li><li>Develop and deliver didactic coursework within area(s) of expertise. </li><li>Recruit, appoint, and supervise program faculty, clinical supervisors, and staff. </li><li>Oversee student recruitment, admissions, advising, evaluation, remediation, and progression. </li><li>Manage program budget, resources, and fiscal planning to ensure long-term sustainability. </li><li>Collaborate with clinical partners across New York City to secure and maintain diverse fieldwork placements. </li><li>Maintain and collaborate with the program's Advisory Board, implementing appropriate recommendations. </li><li>Work with Course Designers to develop on-line training programs </li><li>Develop and Teach Program specific courses </li><li>Represent the program internally within CUNY and externally to the genetics community and professional organizations. </li></ul> <p>Clinical Professors are highly-experienced practitioners or teachers who hold full-time, non-tenure track positions.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Genetic Counseling. </li><li>Current certification in genetic counseling by the ABGC or ABMGG, with ongoing recertification as required. </li><li>At least five years of experience as a certified genetic counselor, including a minimum of three years in a patient-facing clinical or research role. </li><li>Experience serving as the course instructor or instructor of record for at least six credit hours of post-secondary education. </li><li>Availability to provide year-round program administration. </li><li>Commitment to ongoing professional development, including: </li><li>Minimum of two hours per year of training/coursework in curriculum design, assessment, evaluation, or educational methods, with at least one hour annually in diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ). </li><li>For first-time Program Directors: at least 10 hours of training in curriculum design/assessment/educational methods/DEIJ within the past 10 years, plus supervision of at least five genetic counseling graduate students (minimum 500 total contact hours) in the last 10 years. </li><li>Documented experience or training in leadership, professional development, management, scholarly activity, mentoring, academic advising, and DEIJ principles. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Prior experience as a Program Director, Associate/Assistant Director, or equivalent leadership role in a genetic counseling program. </li><li>Demonstrated success with accreditation processes (ACGC or other health professions). </li><li>Experience in curriculum development and innovation in graduate education. </li><li>Strong record of teaching excellence across multiple course formats (didactic, clinical, and/or online). </li><li>Evidence of scholarly activity, such as publications, presentations, or leadership within professional organizations. </li><li>Experience building and sustaining clinical partnerships and fieldwork placements. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse and underserved populations. </li><li>Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with a collaborative leadership style. </li></ul> <p>COMPENSATION</p> <p>CUNY offers faculty a competitive compensation and benefits package covering health insurance, pension and retirement benefits, paid parental leave, and savings programs.
