Incomplete applications will not be considered.</p> <p>Come and join our team and be a part of the beautification of Arlington County Parks, Community Centers and other facilities!</p> <p>The Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) is seeking a Motorized Vehicle Operator III to drive and operate heavy equipment and commercial vehicles for its Parks and Natural Resources (PNR) Division. This employee will primarily operate a rear-end refuse vehicle to perform cleanliness program functions such as litter, trash, and recycling removal from various community locations including bus shelters, playgrounds, parks and sports fields, and other designated locations. The employee is also required to perform snow removal operations and tree removal assistance.</p> <p>Specific duties:</p> <ul> <li>Operating a rear-loading refuse collection truck for litter and recycling programs supported by the Division, according to assigned routes; </li><li>Assisting other Parks and Natural Resources units with the operation of other types of CDL vehicles; </li><li>Assisting with park maintenance assignments and functions to include loading and hauling debris, and dumping of discarded material to and from community locations to disposal locations; </li><li>Participating in snow removal operations, tree emergency/removal operations, and special events; </li><li>Performing preventive maintenance, maintaining cleanliness, and making minor repairs on vehicles/equipment; </li><li>Using a computer, tablet, and/or computerized maintenance management system to perform basic work-related functions; </li><li>Following a map and using GPS to perform daily functions; </li><li>Performing other job-related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Minimum:</p> <ul> <li>Two (2) years of experience operating heavy equipment and/or commercial vehicles; and </li><li>Must possess a Class "B" or "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL). </li></ul> <p>Desirables: Preference may be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Managing tasks through a computerized work order system or computerized maintenance management system (CMMS); </li><li>Leading and/or coordinating the work of crew members; </li><li>Operating a rear end compacting refuse truck; and </li><li>Performing preventative maintenance on equipment. </li></ul> <p>SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <p>Please attach a resume to this application.</p> <ul> <li>Ability to lift to 50 pounds and perform repetitive and intensive manual labor. </li><li>Applicants must possess a Class "A or "B" commercial driver's license at time of applying. </li><li>Any offer of employment will be contingent upon a favorable review of the applicant's driving record, passing the DOT physical, drug screening, and alcohol breath test as required by applicable standards. </li><li>Applicant must pass a DOT physical and a pre-employment drug screening. Once hired, the employee will be subject to drug screening at such times during employment as required. </li><li>A pre-hire background check will be made on all candidates selected for employment. It may include checks of the following: criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, and credit history. You may be required to sign a release authorizing the County to obtain your background information. </li><li>Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. </li><li>As a condition of employment and as necessitated by the work environment, employees may be required to wear various types of personal protective equipment to perform duties. </li></ul> <p>ADDITIONAL INFORMATION</p> <p>Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 6:30am - 3:00pm, Employee may be required to work some evening and weekend hours. Employees must be available for callback and holdover in emergency situations including those that are weather-related.</p> <p>Please complete each section of the application.
