<p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.</p> <p>This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until April 17, 2026. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be February 19th, 2026, with subsequent cut-off dates every 2 weeks. The system's R&D program is actively outreaching for opportunities to offer novel cancer treatments through clinical trials with VA's Precision Oncology Programs, VA's National Oncology Program, and the National Cancer Institute. We have locally-initiated research portfolios that are impacting key research and clinical priorities in the Veterans Health Administration. Our clinician scientists are recognized regional and national leaders influencing cancer care quality and access to care. We are seeking an oncologist who will be interested in contributing to our robust cancer care initiatives.</p> <p>General Description</p> <p>The Oncology Physician is assigned to the VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System, Medical Service, providing comprehensive, efficient, compassionate, high-quality healthcare to all patients, functioning as a member of the inter-disciplinary team providing clinical care to the patients at VASNHCS in inpatient setting. As a Oncology Physician, the responsibilities include providing medical evaluation and directing overall management of patients in collaboration with other members of health care team. Supervision and education of Internal Medicine Residents and medical students from University of Nevada, School of Medicine, is required.</p> <p>Functions/Scope</p> <ul> <li>Participate in an effective clinical program with attention to patient outcome indicators. </li><li>Practice within the scope of assigned privileges. </li><li>Comply with the bylaws, rules and regulations of the facility and agency. </li><li>Meet medical staff criteria for initial appointment and reappointment, including ongoing CME. </li></ul> <p>Administrative</p> <ul> <li>Comply with prescribed record keeping practices in accordance with the rules, regulations and bylaws. </li><li>Comply with prescribed information security policy and procedures. </li><li>Interpersonal relationships - works effectively with patients, families, staff, coworkers and other health care professionals. </li><li>Participates in Medical Service educational activities and scheduled meetings. </li><li>Will have opportunity to lead clinical trials and research with protected research time. </li><li>Comply with assigned Peer Reviews and maintaining quality assurance standards. </li><li>Complete all assigned health record reviews, peer reviews, MAOs, etc., within the identified timeframes. </li></ul>
