<p>POSITION TITLE: High School .5 Math Teacher</p> <p>LOCATION: Wakefield Memorial High School, Wakefield, MA</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Plan, teach, and assess student performance in Math classes (Algebra I and Geometry) </li><li>Work with colleagues and families to support student learning </li><li>Create and maintain a classroom environment that is safe, respectful, and welcoming in order to optimize student capabilities, develop a love of learning, and promote academic risk taking </li><li>Implement lessons where reasoning, collaboration, productive struggle, and problem solving is expected of all students </li><li>Differentiate services and instruction to meet variety of student learning needs and strengths, including students with disabilities and English learners </li><li>Use data to inform and adjust instruction, to track student progress, and to track professional progress through self-evaluation and goal setting </li><li>Regularly contact (through face-to-face meetings, e-mail, and by phone) families regarding student progress </li><li>Participate in collaborative meetings with colleagues to support student learning </li><li>Attend professional development to continually improve practice </li><li>Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the Principal </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Current Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education teaching license in 9-12 Mathematics </li><li>Classroom teaching experience in a high school, or relevant student teaching experience </li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills </li><li>Knowledge of state and national standards, and understanding of research-based best practices in mathematics teaching </li><li>Experience with or ability to implement problem-based learning and assessment </li><li>Use technology and multiple resources to enhance student learning </li><li>Ability to work well on a team and collaborate to best meet the needs of students </li><li>Have a desire to continually improve their practice as a teacher by taking and implementing feedback and a commitment to professional learning </li><li>Believe that students of every background and ability can and will succeed at the highest levels of math </li></ul> <p>The Wakefield Public Schools is committed to the prevention of harassment and discrimination based upon race, color, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, limited English proficiency, and disability or housing status.</p> <p>Equal Opportunity Employer</p>
