If you want to use your skills to build a healthier, more resilient community, we encourage you to apply</p> <p>This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (BHDD) - Office of Mental Health (OMH), G. Werber Bryan Psychiatric Hospital, 220 Faison Drive, Columbia SC 29203.</p> <p>As the Activity Therapist I, under the supervision of the Activity Therapy Supervisor, you will plan, organize, coordinate, conduct and implement a comprehensive program of goal-oriented referral groups and leisure activities/events that meet the recovery needs of patients admitted to an acute care facility.</p> <p>Responsibilities for the Activity Therapist I:</p> <ul> <li>Plan, organize, coordinate, implement, conduct goal oriented assigned Activity Therapy Referral Groups. Serve as secondary therapist in the absence of the primary therapist. </li><li>Observe, interview, and prepare timely written medical records related to treatment goals on assigned patients, identifying interests, skills, and problem areas, inclusive of treatment plans, assessments, re-assessments, progress notes, interest surveys; submit calendars, requisitions, statistical reports as requested and/or needed. Complete with Performance Improvement and Infection Control measures. Knowledgeable of policies and procedures that meet OMH and BPH for accrediting standards and regulations. </li><li>Attend and participate in multidisciplinary Treatment Team meetings and provide pertinent feedback and input regarding patients' progress, involvement, schedules, etc. Recommend appropriate patient groups. Review the Master Treatment Plan as it relates to assigned patients and groups, providing timely, accurate documentation as required. </li><li>Plan, coordinate, implement, supervise, evaluate evening, weekend, holiday leisure activities and special/seasonal events. </li><li>Attend and participate in Activity Therapy Service and mandatory meetings, relevant educational in-services, workshops, conferences, and other appropriate meetings as requested. </li><li>Maintain facilities' equipment and supplies. Inventory and submit requisitions for supplies, equipment, food orders, repairs, etc. Adhere to HIPAA, Harassment-free workplace, time/attendance, OMH and GWBPH policies. Maintain annual trainings of MANDT, CPR and SCEIS training modules as required per facility. </li></ul> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Recreation with an Emphasis in Therapeutics, Art, Physical and Leisure Education, Exercise Science, Health, Music, Horticulture. Library Science, Sociology Sport Management, Psychology, Human Performance, Fine Arts. </li><li>One (1) year of supervised field experience in the corresponding field of therapy. </li></ul> <p>Additional Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds, push a wheelchair, stand, walk for long period of time, climb, maneuver patients in wheelchairs, walkers; able to work outdoors, drive at night, work evenings, nights, weekends, holidays: work inclement weather (all employees are considered essential staff). </li><li>Ability to push, pull, bend, and stoop. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus. </li></ul> <p>Additional Comments</p> <p>Post hire, employees must:</p> <ul> <li>Have knowledge, abilities, skills of principles, practices, objectives of Therapeutic Recreation (TR) in group settings. Knowledge of state, federal regulations, current guidelines, policies, procedures, policies related to TR and patients in a psychiatric hospital. </li><li>Skill in planning, organizing, implementing TR programs.
